I teach a class on communication at a small college and today we were discussing attraction. I always divide the class between the men and the women and then have them create two lists- top ten turn-ons and top ten turn-offs. For those fanatics that are still dating (and because this is a male dominated board) I give you the response from the women in my class…

Turn-ons

Visual attractiveness / eyes and teeth:goofy:
Sense of Humor:biglaugh:
Good kisser:yes:
Sensitivity:wubclub:
Relationship with mom:smile:
Good with kids:rolleyes:
Responsibility:nah:
Respectful / don’t objectify women:notworthy:
Style / Hygiene:jimlad:

Turn-offs

Infrequent bathing:huh:
Being conceited:cool:
Coming on too strong:chatterbox:
Smoking:sad:
Being insecure:unsure:
Ask out then don’t pay:embarrassed:
Getting too close too fast (physically)
Extreme lack of emotions:dull:
Too much / too little hair:elvis:
Lack of intelligence:GEEK:

Style & hygiene at the bottom of turn-ons. Infrequent bathing at the top of turn-offs.

Ask them next time where money/career aspirations fall in line. Thats always a fun topic to get discussion going.

I had too many women in the class so I divided them into two seperate groups that worked independant of each other.

Good idea. They are pack animals. You should have told one group that the other group said they looked fat in those pants.

So to summarize

Turn-ons

- Lying and misrepresenting oneself.

Turn-offs.

- Telling her what you're really like.

You have summed up a big slice of the female personality my friend. They want the jerk but settle for the good guy eventually.

For TurnOn/Turnoff 102 to stimulate further discussion you can ask them:

If they like sports, what brews can they handle, do they have a preference for Ames guys or ICs, what type of male clothing is preferred, what type of movies, if they drink rice beer, know anyone from Climax Springs, MU, they know what a Tator is, do they like myface, how do they handle hawkeye credit cards, and do they believe in donor mothers.

I was actually thinking that, based on this list, there are several of us on this board that are in serious trouble!

First thing that went through my mind when I read that was "Thank God I'm married"

Next thing was "How the hell did I manage to GET married"?

The key is to stay married. Imagine trying to date again in your thirties.:wideeyed:

Been there, done that. My wife leaves me for another guy and I figure that I'm toast. 5 months later I meet a beautiful woman, we start dating and now we're engaged to be married. Plus she's an Iowa State fan!
I actually want to send this other guy a thank you card!

I'm in the same boat as you. You've seen both of us - I'm sure you're asking yourself "how did that guy end up with HER?" It's a question I ask myself everyday and I'm sure I'll never find the answer to.
