This was talked about on the interview with Aaron Brooks. Hope there is some good college guys there to give an indication how close to the top he is at 165

Yeah I think you'd plug David at #3 to start the year at 165. It's a much deeper weight than 157, but I still really only think O'Toole and Griffith are on his level there. If either of those guys go to WTT it'd be a really good barometer on how those matchups might look. I know he's beaten Griffith in freestyle before.

Agreed. I’m not interested in seeing him vs college guys. I want to see where he’s at against top seniors. O’Toole is the only one I’d be interested in from college and that is more so due to his junior world success.

Right now I see Gantt, Nolf, and Shields are all registered at 74kg.

Coleman, Broderson, Parker, and Gadson are all registered. Interestingly, Gadson is at 125kg.

If he's on his game, O'Toole won't beat him. Griffith I am not worried about at all.

I definitely think he is as good or better than any of them.

At 157, the only one on his level was Deakin.

At 165, O'Toole, Amine, Kharchla, Griffith, Wick, Hamitti and Marinelli are better than the guys at 157.

Yes am definitely interested in the senior level guys other than Dake and Burroughs

Unfortunately O'Toole won't be there, but that is the 1 match I really want to see. David entered at 74kg further cements what I've heard and seen that he is going 165.

I think he's going 165, but 74kg shouldn't tell you anything. He's been at 74kg in freestyle for a while now. The next weight down is 70kg which is ~154lb. If 157 is a decent cut for him, there's no reason to cut even further down during the offseason.

I'm in the 'stay at 157' camp. I don't see him as oversized compared to others at the weight. I'm sure he'll pick the weight he can be the most competitive at next year.

But has he not publicly stated on numerous occasions that his plan has always been to go to 65? Of course he could change his mind but I’m almost confused by the amount of discussion about it.

I guess I've missed the public statements made by him. I'm as confused as you on the speculation as to his weight and the volume of discussion... The good new is it's not like we've got a returning AA @ 165 that would be pushed out of the lineup (I guess that's also the bad news ;). Can someone link the statements that I've missed? TIA
