Just because he was a terrific actor.

Here's my list:

  1. Casablanca -- the iconic Bogey film.
  2. The Caine Mutiny -- probably his most intense acting ever.
  3. The Maltese Falcon -- Sam Spade, the quintessential private eye.
  4. The African Queen -- The chemistry between him and Kate Hepburn is magical.
  5. Key Largo -- just a solid movie.
  6. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
  7. High Sierra.

6 and 7 are excellent high adventure stories.

For those who have watched Bogey's movies, what's your list?

I'd add two movies:

To Have and Have Not with Lauren Bacall in her first movie role, so, of course, when she and HB first met.

The Big Sleep, also with Lauren Bacall.

Both movies directed by Howard Hawks, both with fantastic dialogue.

Hard to argue with your list or even the order. African Queen is such a different character for him but he really nailed it.

Even though it is really Bacall's movie, To Have and Have Not probably needs a mention as larry notes if for not other reason than the whistle scene .
