Restaurant tipping

Would you be more likely to go to a restaurant that added a little over 20% to all of their item prices when compared to comparable restaurants and then did not give you an option to tip?

You could leave additional cash or could request to leave an additional tip on a credit card receipt, but the default would be that there is no option for leaving a tip and no expectation to do so.

So as a couple of examples:
A normally $9.99 menu item would be changed to $12.25
A normally $26 menu item would be changed to $32
A total of $120 in items ordered would change to around $146.50

DIY Auto Detailing Thread

Just purchased my first "nice" vehicle and decided to dive into learning how to wash and detail it myself. It's been a more fun and interesting rabbit hole than I expected. Curious if anybody else has embarked on the same hobby? Would be great to have a thread to share experience and feedback on different processes, products, maintenance routines, etc.

I've done a couple 2-bucket washes with Meguiar's Wash and Wax + wheel and rim cleaner and dressing, but just decided to jump all in and plan on doing a full foam cannon wash, clay bar decontamination, and ceramic spray seal this upcoming weekend or whenever weather cooperates.

Friday OT - School’s Out Forever!

It’s the last day of school in a lot of places around Iowa. That includes Ames.

Do you have any celebrations that you did annually as a child to celebrate the last day of school? Any time-honored shenanigans? Any good stories?

Did you live in a location where you got to see your friends during the summer, or were you maybe out in the middle of the country and didn’t get to see anybody until the first day of school the next year?

NFL: ***Official 2024 San Francisco 49ers Thread***

Should the 49ers have a season thread AND game thread for each week or keep everything in one place?

  • Season thread AND weekly game thread

    Votes: 13 20.3%
  • Everything in one thread for 2024

    Votes: 47 73.4%
  • Whatever the majority would like

    Votes: 4 6.3%

Figure it's not too early to start a thread for this fall. There are a few odds and ends to post now, such as the McCaffrey extension, etc.

One (polling) question for you all: would people rather have separate 49ers game day threads for each week or do everything in one place like last season? I honestly don't have a preference. There are pros and cons to both ways. But I know some were frustrated with games not having their own thread - I just didn't want to switch gears in mid-season last year. Poll is open for three weeks (until the end of June, more or less). I'll bump it occasionally so more people have a chance to see and vote if news to post is slow otherwise.

SURVEY: Would you be interested in this CF sponsored trip to Ireland?

Fanatics ... this is a huge undertaking but we have some opportunities for a direct flight between Des Moines and Dublin. Would be a shorter trip for those with work, kids and school. Please fill this out honestly. We do not want to jump into something that we cannot fulfill. Please feel free to respond with reasonable comments too if you have suggestions, etc.
