What's Up Fellas? Your friendly Arkansas State fan is back.

After the game last year in Ames, you might think I'd have zero hope for your visit to Jonesboro this year.

You'd be right! But even so, I enjoyed getting to know you guys last year, and actively watched Iowa State any time I had the chance. The comeback and last minute defeat of Miami to finish the season was one of the best bowl games I watched.

For those of you making the trip, I will be happy to make recommendations for food, drink and debauchery. You will find that Craighead County is the wettest dry county in America. I think you will also find the tailgating and stadium to be better than expected.

As for the game, I really wish it wasn't at 3PM! Woof. I fully expect you guys will be in the Top 15, and I would think the atmosphere should be pretty fun but it's gonna be hot.

You might have seen that we limped our way to 8 wins last year, but we've had such a major roster turnover, most of us don't really know what to expect. The key skill players are still in place, but almost everything else has seen a shake up. Even though I don't think you saw a great showing from us last year, we are cautiously optimistic to be able to keep it a bit closer this year, which probably means Iowa State by 60.

The week prior, we will be facing the Arkansas Razorbacks for the first time in history. There was a previous longstanding policy of the UofA not to play in-state schools. The game will be in Little Rock, and emotions will be elevated. I have no idea what to expect, but some of it will surely carry over to the Iowa State game either way.

Let me know what questions you guys have about visiting J-town, and I'll see you around!

Hour of ‘24 Highlights

I thought that there was a thread on this, but apparently not. Big XII highlights of ISU from ‘24, minus the Iowa game.

About the time Rocco was hitting Noel deep downfield against Baylor, I realized that I had tears running down my face.

The ‘24 season was great. It was memorable. It was awesome.

Could we do it again, please? Only this time, without the injuries.

2026 Football Targets

Sadly, it appears that the marvelous @NATEizKING did was not so prescient as to map out a 2026 version of the long running series. Alas!

It won’t be done properly, I suppose, but here we are. Could I get a pin please, @Connor_Ferguson?

And to start out with, looks like former Cyclone QB (and current Colorado State Professor) Todd Bandhauer has a son. A very large son. Recently offered.

Critical Moment for ISU Athletics

I know we have various threads on here that get into this issue somewhat (mostly the CR Gazette one)... but wanted to kind of put it all in one place.

There are 3 major things negatively affecting ISU Athletics and its future right now... and it puts us in a very precarious situation I'm afraid. They are....

1. NIL - financially for obvious reasons

2. Wendy Wintersteen retiring - who knows who gets that job and what their view on athletics will be? Wintersteen by all accounts has been great.

3. When will JP retire? - not too much talk on this, but this would probably be the BIGGEST of the 3 issues IMO. JP has been amazing for ISU Athletics. I don't agree with him on everything, but nobody can refute what he has accomplished for ISU Athletics... maybe the best AD in the country. He has to be thinking about retiring soon I would think... and his replacement will probably make or break us.

And... with all 3 of these things lingering over us... who knows what that will do to people like Matt Campbell, TJ, etc... and their futures? I just really feel like the next handful of years will really determine the future of our athletics program.

CF Founder and Lind Family In Need of Support

It’s far beyond humbling, and the last thing I ever thought I’d do, but it would mean the world to our family if you could take a minute to read the linked GoFundMe.

Just taking the time to read and share would mean a lot. Without a social or social media network of our own, any sharing of the link would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve always been an open book and used CF as a diary of sorts. As I’ve stated from the start 20 years ago, and repeat to this day, you truly are family to us and we couldn’t ask for a better support network than we’ve had from all of you over the years.

Any bumps to this post would also be very much appreciated as conditions will continue.

Thank you,
Jeremy, Rhonda, Isaac, Eli

P.S. - Please note that due to the emotional and personal nature of contributions and/or sharing words of encouragement, I plan to refrain from posting personal thank you notes in this thread. My wife and I would rather jointly provide individualized, heartfelt thank you notes via the GoFundMe portal.

2025-26 Lineup

I know the season isn't over yet, but with the news that Ech will be medically redshirting this season it only makes me wonder what next year's lineup will be.

Here's my best guess:
125 - Adrian Meza/Christian Castillo
133 - Evan Frost
141 - Anthony Echemendia/Jacob Frost
149 - Casey Swiderski/Paniro Johnson
157 - Paniro Johnson/Cody Chittum
165 - Connor Euton/MJ Gaitan/Aiden Riggins
174 - MJ Gaitan/Transfer
184 - Sawyer Bartelt/Tate Naaktgeboren
197 - Sawyer Bartelt/Transfer
HWT - Yonger Bastida

Cooking myths and other common misconceptions

Cooking myth No. 1 (IMO): It's crucial to let a steak rest before slicing into it after cooking. WRONG! It's not crucial and the benefit of letting it rest is negligible to begin with. The idea is that resting the steak allows the juices, which migrate toward the center of the steak during cooking, can spread out to the rest of the steak during the resting process. The truth is there's just not that much juice involved to begin with, maybe a tsp, if that, and resting the steak adds very little value to the finished product. Thicker cuts may benefit more, but even that is arguable. So next time you hear some high-end chef telling you that you need to rest your steak before eating it, call BS on the guy.

Star Wars Expanded Universe Thread

Similar to my other cinematic universe threads (Marvel Cinematic Universe, Fox X-Men Universe, DC Extended Universe), the following is a thread completely devoted to talking ALL things related to the existing and upcoming Star Wars Universe, whether it be movies, TV shows, comics, books... etc. Below is a good graphic depicting what is meant by the Star Wars Expanded Universe and what Disney now considers canon. It is important to know that once Disney bought Lucasfilms back in 2012, they decided to reset the existing canon. What I mean by that is they declared that the only thing considered canon moving forward was all the existing saga films (Episodes 1-6), as well as the existing animated TV shows (Clone Wars, Rebels). All else, including existing books, shorts stories, comics, and even the existing Ewok movies were all removed from canon. This was and has been a very controversial topic among fans.

Here is a more detailed and more accurate exact timeline on everything:

Moving forward, the following is a graphic of the current upcoming schedule (the 2018 spin-off will be a Han Solo movie):

With all this said, this is the place to post any and all things Star Wars, whether that be news, opinions, reviews, rumors... etc.

New house build: tank water heater vs. tankless water heater

Hey fellow Fanatics, we just signed the paperwork to build a new house that will be ready sometime this coming summer, and one of the things that my wife and I have been wrestling with is: do we go with the 50gal gas-fired standard tank water heater that the builder will supply, should we upgrade to a larger 75gal (~ $2600 upcharge), or upgrade to tankless water heater (~ $3000 upcharge)? Another option we would have is to add a hot-water recirculation line throughout the house for something like $1500, so we'd have instant hot water at all taps.

We have a family of 6, and the 4 kids are all teen/pre-teen girls, so showers take like 7 hours.... only a slight exaggeration there. What is everyone's experience with tank vs. tankless, and also a recirc line? My concern is that the tankless can't keep up with that kind of hot water demand, but the upcharge on the 75gal tank seems pretty high.

Would love to hear thoughts and feedback. Thanks!

DIY home improvement projects

I enjoy working on DIY home improvement projects around our house and I'd be interested to see or hear what types of DIY home improvement projects that my fellow Cyclonefanatics have done or are planning to do. I'm hoping this could give me ideas for my own house.

I'll go ahead and share a small project that I just completed.

We live in a split foyer and the entryway isn't very big. I got tired of everyone's shoes always cluttering up this entryway and getting in the way of the front door, so I ordered a metal shoe cabinet and I built it into the wall. It still needs a little touch up paint on the trim, but it's essentially done. The cabinet is only 4 inches thick so it barely sticks out of the wall, and it holds a total of six pairs of shoes. Now my cluttered entryway problem is solved!

I'd love to see projects others have done.

WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Thought I'd start a thread for things not ISU team so our general Cyclone season thread doesn't get sidetracked. I know there are a couple of fans that watch outside of our team.

Looking at future opponents.

The Jennie B. Sooners are 6-1 and beat #9 Oregon and Minnesota in a neutral court setting to win a tourney in the Bahamas. Play Mississippi State in the Big 12/SEC thingies on Saturday. Miss State is not ranked. Was just a few years back they were 37-2 and in the champ game against ND. Vic Schaefer leaving and his replacement resigning after just a year seems to have left them as a middling SEC team.

Iowa, after missing three games against quality opponents due to their COVID hiatus, got thumped at Duke last night. They didn't win a single quarter. Clark, a career 41% from three, was 1-13. They play Michigan State at IC on Sunday before coming to Ames. Haven't seen them play but so far they don't seem to be playing even close to their level of last year.

Full Interviews from Iowa State Football Media Today

Below you can watch Matt Campbell’s full press conference as well as full interviews with Rocco Becht, Xavier Townsend, Ben Brahmer, Gabe Burkle, Carson Hansen, Jeremiah Cooper, Caleb Bacon, Kooper Ebel, Will McLaughlin and Kyle Konrardy.
