is a "football" cyismydog. I can't remember a year in recent times when there was such limited info on recruiting. Granted, it is often speculation based on wild rumors, but at least it gave us something to get excited about. We used to always see a spike in commits following the camps. One kicker isn't much of a spike. We seem to have a pretty good group of potentials, but no one seems to be in a hurray. Is this going to be another year when most of our commits come in Dec. and Jan.? Would sure like to see some early pickups, guys who obviously want ISU as a first choice. Anyone out there have a feeling for what is going on?

I have a feeling for what's going on...borderline panic.

Okay, that might be a bit of an overreaction, but really, I'm not so much concerned that we only have 2 commits, I'm more concerned about the number of guys we've offered and the number of guys that have us high on their board. That is a concern.

Call me crazy, but I, for one, don't miss it at all.

I honestly don't care who we recruit to come here. I care about the kids who are actually here, and what they do when they show up.

I think it's actually sort of creepy, the people who borderline stalk high school kids and spend so much of their lives worrying about, the decisions of some 18 year old kid who has done nothing to prove anything to anyone their ability to compete at the D1 football, let alone BCS conference level.

Excellent point. We still need more commits though.

Just spent a few minutes scanning the "offers" lists for a few other schools. Was a little amazed at the number of offers extended by some of them. Michigan, for instance, has offers out to 22 Athletes. They obviously won't take more than one or two of them. At some time these kids must realize that they aren't going to Michigan and start looking at more realistic options. There seem to be a lot of four stars that haven't committed, but are still waiting and hoping. I hope that we are talking to some of them.

33 said quite some time ago he would be absent for awhile. I do know he has occasionally posted on CR in the last couple of months.

No, we don't. You'll see the difference in the quality of recruit CPR can get to visit now--as opposed to those with interest following even a, say, 6-6 season.

That was one of Mac's problems. In the years he did have good seasons, he would have taken a bunch of commitments out of his summer camp--largely guys that never contributed (Kurtis taylor being one exception). Then when he did go bowling (especially after the insight.com bowl), he didn't have room for all of the higher quality players with interest.

So I'm quite happy with just a couple of commitments right now, thank you very much. That's room for all the more later when kids can see CPR's product on the field.

Is that supposed to be a Boondock Saints reference?

Yeah, two commits for ISU in June isn't bad. Keep in mind that Rhoads and staff are still scrambling to catch up, most coaches start working on recruiting years before the player gets on campus, Rhoads has only had a few months. Also, the type of recruits that Rhoads and company are looking for are different than what Chizik was recruiting. Not saying that there aren't some overlaps, but they are different systems and the players needed for those systems are different.
