What are your thoughts on the thursday night game? I personally dont like it. I always miss the first couple minutes of the game because i have a practice of my own and i have to leave early because i have a game the next night. Others also have to work the next day. I really like saturday games i just think thats the way it should be.

it is actually really smart.... ALOT of students go home because of it being a long weekend. having it on a thursday keeps alot more people there for the game

Oh boy... Now you've done it....

(personally I don't like them either. But be prepared to be considered amongst the worst fans in the history of ISU).

I'm fine with it either day but it is kind of nice to have a Thursday night game on a holiday weekend and that little extra excuse to start the party/weekend earlier. I can see how some wouldn't like it though, but I enjoy it once a year.

Thread number eleventy-billion on this topic.

Who cares.....its a good excuse to take Thursday and Friday off and have a 5 day weekend. I've done that now for 3 years.

I wouldn't care if it was Monday morning at 4AM.

Seriously, I think it makes some sense - especially when half the student section is gone when it's on Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

It's a good reason to make a 5 day weekend. This is probably my favorite game time of the season because I start it out Weds night in Vet Med lot and usually don't go home till Friday morning.

I for one don't like it.

This is going to force me to skip at least a good chunk of my Thursday classes. :jimlad:

The attendance numbers dont support the thursday night game (as opposed to previous saturday night games) when compared to average attendance within the season they are in. Its a wash at best, slightly negative. If someone wants to dig up my post from last year this time where i detailed all the numbers, good luck to you.

The real thing is that it probably actually causes harm, as it ends up making it easier for students to go (who paid 100 a ticket) vs season ticket holders, who pay 350 at minimum, up to thousands with donor levels. Add that to the fact that many of the natives are already a bit restless with the increasing cost per game (since we gave up a home game) and the many who either cant make it to the game or cant tailgate (and lets face it, that is a big part of the gameday experience).. and youre hurting those who really pay the bills- something which should probably be noted, as if the locations of the mini-pack tickets and other tickets are any indication, season tickets are probably way off this year.

I didnt like it as a student (it kills the tailgating, plus it causes labor day weekend to be lame, as half the town leaves, where it used to be a big party weekend), and i definitely dont like it as an alum.

The only positive i have for this is that it gives all saturday to watch games.. but there usually arent many good ones on.

Those could be some having an influence on it being a Thursday night game as well, as they would be more likely to take the out of town trips on a long weekend. No data to back it up but it would be a reasonable thought.(In my thinking anyway)

I like it, but then I don't have a problem with vacation days. People who don't get very much vacation, I could see their point in disliking the Thursday games.

I usually take Thursday and Friday off. Get down there about noon and party it up for the first game of the year. The one thing that I don't like about it is that the lots aren't filled up early. Most people come after work, so the tailgating isn't very impressive. The one thing that I like the most is that I can watch a full day of FB on Saturday without having to worry about the Clone game.
