if he is half of the player Stout was, I'd take him. I like the fact that he is 245lbs. Just think if we picked up him and Nweke. We'd have some much needed size down there.

I don't think McDermott would offer both of them though.

I won't pre-judge a KID based on what was said to be on someone's facebook. Can't imagine/remember the things I must have said that were wrong when I was 18 years old. I hope we get him...period.

Did we recruit this kid prior to his committing to Indiana State? Why did he commit to Indiana State? If we didn't previously recruit him, what has changed?

And all the references to Grant Stout...come on. He was a nice player in a small time conference but they way many of you speak about him you would think this kid is an NBA lottery pick...which he clearly is not.

I clearly am not saying he's NBA level. He is however a 6'-9" post player that can move well, handle the ball, shoot and is built unlike any other player currently on our roster --a lean, 245 lbs. He's a strong kid and we need that.

He's got some work to win me over - as far the person he is.

Quality of character and general intelligence are often overlooked the blog-o-sphere of recruiting. That's a couple areas I've always thought we could improve on at ISU. With that said, I'm from the Waverly area and am hearing very good things about family, work ethic and basketball IQ. Passing on the Iowan could be a big mistake.

I read in a different thread that Vette's high school coach, Coach Bardell, and McDermott had their differences. This morning I learned the exact opposite. Bardell (an old Floyd assistant) and McDermott are buddies. From what the locals are saying I think Bardell wants Vette in Ames.

Yeah, from what I've heard Bardell and GMac used to be neighbors. GMac and Vette apparently have know each other for a long time and GMac was recruiting Vette when he was at UNI.

Smart money says he'll be a cyclone by Monday.

I think after watching the video that he looks like a confident Alex Thompson. I think he could come in with the confidence he has shown and do some good things.

About 5 years ago, another player from the NE Iowa conference committed to Iowa. He was unrecruited until his senior year. I think Alford offered because he couldn't get anybody else. He was built about like Vette, maybe a little shorter and less than 245#. His name was Greg Brunner, remember him? Would you naysayers be satisfied if Vette turned out like Brunner?

Brunner was the #19 rated PF his year according to rivals, and he was a four star player and the #12 PF according to Scout.

Vette is unrated in both and a 2 star in both. It's not exactly like Brunner was flying under the radar like Vette is.

I'd be thrilled if Vette turns out like Brunner, and at the very least I think he can be a physical rebounding player and that's something we haven't had at ISU since Homan. I'm pumped for the Vette era if he does indeed commit.

I just don't understand these negative character remarks..is there something that we don't know? It can't all be from some obscure facebook thing, can it?

Being in the heart of the NEIC, Ive watched both play in high school and I have to say that Vette is all of what Brunner was in high school. Now maybe comparisons to Collison is more than a stretch but Vette definitely has the abililty and the heart to be a great player. He's a gym rat like Brunner was and he has great character. I know there are some of you who think because something facebook said you are going to hold that and judge his whole attitude on that. Trust me, I live 2 miles from him and there isnt a better kid that you would want to represent your school. PERIOD.
