I think there are probably 10 teams that all fit into this category, but most of them have the history to back it up.

Football: Nebraska & USC
Basketball: North Carolina, Duke, and Kansas

But all of them have the history to back it up, although Nebraska fans are living somewhat in the past.

There's really another category of fans -- those who aren't quite as pompous, but who look more foolish because they have an unrealistic view of their teams as "elite". Those are:

Football: Iowa, Clemson, Texas Tech
Basketball: Georgetown, Marquette, Utah

Iowa is barely in the top 10 I think. We are just skewed because we deal with them on a regular basis. There are far worse.

Big difference....usually.
I'll combine the 2 factors.
Back when I played...The worst were OU,UN and of course UI.
20 years later..I'd say tOSU...USC ...and UI.

I always have thought OSU and KSU fans are like ISU fans when experencing them. Kansas fans are had to deal with as well as Colorado fans.

notre dame is leagues ahead of anyone else. Name another team that buys it's own TV rights? Or isn't in a BCS conference, but could play in BCS bowls with the proper record?
