Edit: Notre Dame

Pompous or most storied program in NCAA Football History? Hmmmm...I say, as an Irish fan, we got plenty of reason to be "pompous" with the history the program has. Sure as of late, there hasnt been a ton to puff our chests about, but when you look at the big picture, few compare.

and their consistently awful schedule that gets chalked up to "tradition".

Consistently awful? You do know that their schedule often ranks in the top 10 of most difficult correct?

What other team consistently plays USC, Michigan and BC? Sure Michigan suddenly dropped of the face of the earth last year, but when the schedules are made, they look pretty darn good. Michigan State is supposed to be a solid Big 10 team this year and Purdue is attempting to rebuild. At Purdue, certainly no pushover. Pitt is also a very solid team. The key is, when the schedules are made 3-4 sometimes even more years ago, most of these teams are pretty solid. Who would have thought that Washington would have went winless last year?

They are one of very few teams to have never scheduled an FCS opponent...EVER.

As for their BCS appearances, the same can be said about many Big 10 teams in their BCS appearances as of late.

Currently, Notre Dame is not a college football super power. Historically, they still rank at the very top of the greatest programs of all time.

No doubt it's Iowa. Some of the fans always brag about "going to New Year's Bowl" while we know that the reason they can go is because Big 10 is a weak conference.
They are really delusional that they will never admiut that the only chance they go to BCS bowl is if Ohio State goes to National Championship and Michigan and Penn State have a terrible season.

For me, it's aTm. There are others, but for a team that's been barely better than us the last 10 years, they sure think they've got a lot going on down there.

Most of you guys have never been down south, I'm guessing.

The SEC, every single team, thinks that football isn't played in any other part of the country. Even their bad teams think they they are elevated to superior status levels due to the others in their conference.

I suppose we do that a bit w/the Big 12, but nothing along the lines of what you see/hear down there.

"...last several years" meaning "since 1847?"
I mean, hasn't that always been a part of the school's name? I guess I never noticed there not being a "the" there before. Aren't all "University of _____s" prefaced with a "the?"

Ohio State, definitely. I married into an Ohio State family. My brother-in-law has so much Ohio State stuff, you can't sneeze without something playing the fight song! Even his dog was named Buckeye (I used to call him Buckwheat and drive my brother-in-law craxy when he would come to me!).

It was great to move to Iowa where OSU meant something other than Ohio State University.
