Would someone be able to put together a list of which coach recruited our current two deep roster and the former starters who were injured during the season? Just a total would be sufficient. I think Chizek gets too much credit for this year's success. McCarney, I asume, recruited the vast majority of the current players that see the field. With Sims, Reynolds and Knott coming to mind - Rhoads may have more on the field than we realize. I am guessing out of 22 on the 2 deep + injured that McCarney recruited 15+.

Using the current depth chart which is missing several players due to injury.

McCarney - 21
Chizik - 19
Rhoads - 10

Please take into account that McCarneys recruits are the current Seniors and RS Juniors on the team. Those guys should be starting over underclassmen.
The next couple of years will tell us how many of Chiziks guys will be quality starters.
I actually like the mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen in our two deeps. Under DMac we usually only had Junior and Senior starters and were always scrambling to find replacements for the seniors.

Can you narrow it down to the 22 that likely get PT. Going to a total of 50 would include too many players that just showed up.

Mccarney recruited most of the starters and many of the key players like Arob, AA, Jesse Smith, Frere, etc.

Chizik's best recruiting success looks it was on the OL and Defensive backfield (also recruited some promising young DL who are backups now).
Chizik Recruit D starters: Chris Lyle, LJ, Banks, Benton (pretty much a starter).
O Starters: KO, Haughton, Alvarez, Darks - special mention to C Franklin.

Rhoads starters: Sims, Lenz (at times this year).

The point is to determine who recruited the current team not down the road. Obviously Chizek's numbers will go up and McCarney's down after this year.

Who cares who gets the credit or who recruited who. They are all on the same team now. To what has been stated earlier I would expect way more players recruited in the Mac years to be included in the two deeps - they are upper classmen.

Say what you want about chizik, he did raise the consciousness and expectations while at ISU.

5-19. He lowered the bar in every facet.

So you expected 5-19?

No. That's how he lowered the bar. When he came in, we were two years removed from a bowl game. He didn't win enough games in two years to become bowl eligible for one season. He lowered the bar. My expectations are always bowl game or bust, but that doesn't mean that he didn't lower the quailty of football during his brief stint.

Man, move on. Chizik brought in good athletes (only had 1 true recruiting class), but did not have any worthwhile assistants to coach them, except for Rodgers.

Chizik's hire raised expectations.

Chizik's results put expectations back a good 10 years

No argument there. Glad he left.

For anyone to say he failed on all levels is silly.

Funny how Mac was 5-17 his first two years but that gets overlooked. Gotta love the double standard some employ.

History says otherwise.

I believe the coaches walked into different situations when they were hired. Mac was taking over a team that had gone winless the year before while Chizik was taking over a team that had gone to a bowl game two seasons before.

I really hate to say this but Chizik is responsible for a lot of our success this year. The Oline had a lot to do with him as well as the idea that he brought ARob back to the team. Without those two things I think our results would be a lot different. At the same time, we haven't seen a lot of talent from chizik yet in the LBs or really the defense in general. When you think of the defense, Benton and LJ are the guys that Chizik brought in in "his classes" up to this point that have contributed. I would give each coach every signing classes that has signed when they were coach. Some people would say you give them half the class, but the fact is the coach that is there signed there guys, they are theirs. I really expect to see a lot of Rhoads' guys move into roles in the next year or two and kind of overtake the program. To this point, I think Rhoads' staff has done a better job getting the guys we need to be successful.

Mac was 5-17 his first two years.

Walden had gone 0-11-1, 3-8, 3-8 the previous three seasons.

The three years previous to that moron taking over we went 4-8, 7-5, 7-5

There is no double standard, people expected great things out of Gene Chizik. He had a talented senior laden team tossed into his lap, and he failed on all levels
