I won't miss him if this team isn't at least playing in the NIT. The problem is, if he goes, our team will fall apart and have to be built from scratch again. Do we wait a year to see if things turn around or blow it up and wait at least 3 more years?

BLow it up now..... find a recruiter that keeps the guys worthy of keeping. Let the rest transfer if necessary. A lot of our juniors on the team wont transfer, too late in the career.

So is doing the same thing over and over .. expecting different results.

To me thats beating your head against a wall..... which obviously 140 people on here want to do. Blind faith gets you no where, im totally at a loss why some people on here expect him to get it turned around after year 4. Im actually blown away how many people voted to keep him

If we do say goodbye to Mac after this year, we need to find a way to keep Ejim and Cook locked up.

I have zero faith in us being able to find that guy.

Why am I a flip flopper and not a fan?

Did you not bear witness to our last few coaching searches? NO ONE wanted to come here.

I believe he's trying to be clever here and complete the bridge between:

A) you sayign you have no faith in someone at ISU to do something

and

B) people saying you're not a fan if you talk negatively McDermott

or it could just be an old old wooden ship

Watching us struggle to hire someone after Larry really jaded my opinion. I would like to think lots of coaches would jump at a chance to be in the Big 12.

iirc wasnt it a bit late in the 'coaching carousel season' for it, and in addition, larry was getting railroaded by bvd. that couldnt be good for making a coach want to come here.

In the interest of full disclosure I did have two Boulevard Pale Ales with supper and as of now I am on my 3rd vodka/tonic.

Firing a coach is never a good sign to prospective hires.

With that said, I think you have a valid point.

Fall apart and be worse than .500 winning? Maybe not. I think that we could match that the first year with a switch. I definitely am not advocating that at all, but our record continues to be on cruise control. We are looking like 5 or 6 wins in conference with some great players. We are just not performing like a team and coach is unable to get it figured out for the players.

There is absolutely no reason why this team should not be competing for a chance to go to the dance, the talent is there. The issue seems to be an inability to guide, direct, coach, teach, whatever you want to call it - this falls on Greg.

I posted something earlier tonight about plenty of coaches across the country at non-B.ball power schools who are finding success in their first couple years, recruiting well, making the post season & oddly enough, even doing a great job of coaching their teams (some even show emotion)!

I'm sorry but when the season ends & we might have a chance at the NIT, that is absolutely not acceptable. It's settling for mediocrity when everyone expected this team to be dancing - even the broadcasters & sportswriters knew the potential.

The NIT might be a feather in MacD's cap and something to justify keeping him around for another year but obviously a glaring reality towards his ability to coach in the Big XII.
