I think McD is questioning himself and whether he can turn it around. This might sound crazy, but I think he might step down.

I watched it on cyclones.com and he brings up some really good points. I am as frustrated as the next person with the current state of ISU basketball but he points out a lot very real, very true stuff about the beginning of his tenure here. He states that they basically started with the death penalty and this is true. As frustrated and sometimes angry as I am with MBB he is going to get another year and I really hope he can start to pull us out of this tailspin. I would gladly take back everything negative I have said about this staff and be overjoyed with some success. I think Mac is a great human being, I think he knows how to coach basketball and I would love for him to succeed at ISU. Lets go beat Mizzou on Wednesday night.

"We have got to try to make it so that they are playing offense a little more often than they’d like."

How do you do that? Turn the ball over a lot so they have more possessions than they can handle? :biglaugh:

I know what he meant, but it didn't quite come out right.

People keep saying this and it always makes me chuckle. Why do you think this? Is it because the incredibly ineffective offense that we run? Is it because of the out-of-bounds plays that we run that never produce anything? Is it because of the lack-luster pressure defense he has coached the guys up on? Is it because of him consistently bringing players into the program that not Big 12 caliber players? Or is it because of the fact that in his time here at ISU he really hasn't pulled off an upset? Maybe I'm mistaken but a guy that knows how to coach basketball wouldn't let all of those things happen.

I'm in 100 percent agreement with you. However, the reality is his record isn't good at Iowa State.

And there is an old sea captain's saying, "No one wants to hear about the storms you encountered. They just want to know did you bring the ship in?"

GMac hasn't "brought the ship in" yet.

I think he will coach next year...but that will be his last. McD from Uni days to now is a 180. He is unsure and is questioning things that he didn't before.

Well what the **** do you want? You want something to change but you want him to think everything he has done has been right?

I guess because he has had success everywhere else he has been? Maybe he just got lucky everywhere else and he doesn't know anything. Maybe I am just trying really hard to be optimistic who knows.

Just listen to the guy talk basketball. He knows he stuff. Obviously, it doesn't always transfer to the players on the court and that is something he is ultimately responsible for.

I think, as fans, it is easy for us to see what goes wrong during a game and we fail to see what goes right.
