DG did not pursue Higgins very well. Ultimately the poor defense led to the loss.
Never thought I'd say this, but it just might be time to clean the MBB house. Yeah, you'll get the argument of "what about all the progress that has been made" or "next year will be better" or "McDermott deserves better". Yes, McDermott did deserve better than what happened to him when he first came in, but unfortunately those weren't the cards that we was dealt, and the cards that he has been dealt he has played horribly. As far as the other two arguments, what progress has been made, and based on what has happened over the last 4 years, how can you possibly argue that year 5 is going to be any better? What was supposed to be McDermott's breakthrough year at Iowa State is going to end up being his worst season yet.
I think McDermott is a great person, and I think a lot of his detractors get WAAAAY too personal in their attacks against him (for instance, one unnamed poster stating that "McDermott is pathetic" is way out of bounds). Perhaps he's even a good coach - he certainly had results before he came here. But it's certainly clear that he is a bad fit here, his coaching methodology just isn't working here, he has pretty much lost control of the program, and for the sake of Iowa State basketball as well as whatever McDermott might be able to salvage out of his career, I think it just might be time for both sides to part ways. I mean, how much worse would next year possibly be to press the gigantic reset button on the program in comparison to where it's at now?
i'll take heat for saying this, but brackins is the most over rated cyclone basetball player in our history. great players win games, he has never accomplished anything as a team while he's been here. Takes bad shot after bad shot. It costs us.
We can't have our best 3 point shooter going 0-5 and expect to win.
Did not see you on here complaining about him after he won us the Nebraska game.:rolleyes5cz:

Excuse me....I have the BIG12 outcome for ISU in wins and losses correct so far. I ******* about ISU since right after Christmas that they wont get far in the BIG12 with the way they are playing. I was harrassed called a homor, and everything else in the book. NOW that this is happening no I am not glad, BUT those people that thought I was wrong and should leave this board are saying the same things that a few of us saw with those"huge" overpowering wins of ten points or more. When we sat and typed here that we wont do **** unless this gets corrected.
Would like to know what those people think about this team now....
EXACTLY. Why don't people understand that just because you're individually good you won't automatically be good as a team? That's where the coaching staff comes in, usually (but not always). This is especially true in a good conference like the Big 12 too.
I thought that the effort was OK today. This team is always going to have flat spots because there is foundation of play to fall back on.
We haven't stopped dribble penetration since Greg has been here, so that is not going to change. We are still going to look to shoot 3's, we are still going to be soft. I guess I have accepted that as the way this/program team is going to be.
I actually thought Greg had a pretty good day. The only thing I didn't understand is how he didn't call timeout the second Diante got the ball over halfcourt. I could see that play was going nowhere, and we had a TO left. Call it, and set up a play from half court.
Explain why it happens at so many programs. Is UCLA really suffering from a talent problem? UNC?
I understand that my next comment will refer to a recruiting problem, and this is a gap for us, but it comes down to that refuse-to-lose leader on the floor, too. Those guys are apparently getting harder and harder to find.
The arguments on both sides just get tiring. I am to the point that I do not care anymore to watch the replay over and over of the same brand of crappy basketball. If we do not expect more, we will not get more. Plain and simple. If some can live on moral victories and think that not making a move is going to change things next year, more power to you. I will become a bigger BF fan. I expect next year for womens bball to exceed mens in attendance. I will not bore you with my story of becoming uninterested in the program as they are a dime a dozen now adays and even long time supporters are turning on this program as the story is always the same in these games. What can anyone honestly look forward to next year with GMAC at the helm?
Did not see you on here complaining about him after he won us the Nebraska game.:rolleyes5cz:
And that is the $650,000 question.
wooohooo craig won us the game against nebraska at home. if you would have been sitting with me at that game, you would have heard plenty of complaining from me. And if i come here and bash him after one of his better preformances of the year, yea well you know where that gets me.
great players win college basketball games, and more than just 15 a year. 11 or 12 cupcakes and a few conference wins.
And that is all part of GM's strategy...don't foul on defense and rely on the 3 on offense. We are doing exactly what he wants and the results suck.
