I think we should hire Tom Davis away from Iowa or Keno away from Drake.

A Hawk friend at work and I had a good time with the Tom Davis idea (and yes, I know he's not still at Iowa, but that's well played right there). We pictured him leading us to the Final Four, just to imagine our grumpiest Hawk at work go crazy grumbling about it. The grumpy Hawk in question is still ticked that they let him go.

If Dr. Tom were to beat Steve Alford in the Elite Eight, he's lose his mind seeing both of those guys that far.

Keno Davis would be McDermott 2.0 No Thanks.

I would love the Mike Davis hire if it were to come.

I like Davis but I don't see how pollard sells hiring a coach fired from somewhere else.

Mike Davis was in a no-win situation following Bobby. Heck, he took a very mildly talented Indiana team to the championship game and then was fired, what, 2 years later. They wanted him out from day 1 because they felt he betrayed Bobby. He's a good recruiter and a decent coach, I think it'd be a good, not great, hire. But I would think it's one we could definitely swing though as it'd definitely be a step up from UAB.

I've always thought Kelvin Sampson would be a good coach to give another chance. We would have to have someone watch over his recruiting but think he is a good coach.

NO WAY!!! This guy is dirty and obviously has NO RESPECT for the rules of the NCAA. With the way the NCAA likes to hit us hard, this would be disaster on a level we haven't seen since Kriner was here.

I would hire anyone right now just to get this freaking guy out the door.

And this post is epic fail. While I think it's time for a change, it can still get a whole lot worse. Would you take the coach of the worst team in D I just to get McD out the door? Didn't think so...

I agree other than I think we need to avoid any coach with a "fired" stigma.

LE was 1.1mill. where is Jay wright?

Are you kidding? Really? Pipe dream.

1. Every year he's been contacted by much larger openings than a potential opening here. He's never even listened enough to let a rumor start.

2. He's a Philly guy born and raised, and is married to a former Villanova cheerleader.

3. He has a contract through 2013 (which you know has a huge buyout), and regardless of his annual salary which is above $1 mill... Villanova alumni have some of the deepest pockets in the country.

I could go on and on... never going to happen.

Not Kelvin Sampson! I do like Mike Davis, and IU fans were going to hate whoever replaced Bobby. I don't want a Dukie since the jobs are so different. Only K would pull it off. LE or TF would be a great story, but highly improbable.

JP should contact a search firm so they can look for interest. You never know who may be open to it.

Maybe coaching isn't the problem...In fact, maybe it's damn good coaching keeping us in all of these games.:skeptical:

What have you heard?

Not what I have heard, but what I have seen in this horrid 4 year run. And, year 4 will be his WORST. I would HOPE that our Athletic Department is ready for this firing and has in mind potential suitors to ISU.

There should be no other thinking otherwise. The guy has been a horrible failure. We need to move on and cut our losses with GM.

Thus, I have faith in my alma mater that this guy will sease to be the coach at ISU. We deserve better than this.

I trust GG and JP to make the right decision...and yes we do deserve better. Better will come.

You need to re read his post, he is not suggesting Jay Wright, he is simply asking why he was not on that list of top coaching salaries that i gave a link for.
