I'm not 100% convinced on this, my emails from Jamie have a different From: (tag) and Jamie has a signature line and logo...? If this was cut and pasred as we are to believe it looks have been edited, in those regards.

His signature logo was on the email. Also, the OP said in a note to Deace that his dad buys the tickets, and he gets them through his dad. I know some die hard Clone fans that do something similar, because someone else can score better tickets than they can.

I love how Deace, Miller, Matt are trying to stir the pot by posting this. Human nature to fight back when someone takes a shot at you. Nothing wrong with this.

Not only did he take a shot at Mac's ability to coach (which is probably fair game), but singled out players by name. I think JP has every right to give it right back to the guy.

so you guys don't care that you have to be donor in order to be a die-hard fan in the eyes of your AD?

Just curious cause I was shocked at that reaction by your AD (no, not because of our history)

Please. Your vendetta against him is well documented. I think that you enjoy trying to make him look bad and blowing things out of proportion.

And no, you don't have to be a donor to be a die-hard fan. But if you want your voice heard and respected, you should be putting your money where your mouth is. It doesn't have to be thousands of dollars...the NCC and CGC have $100 entry levels, MBB, WBB and FB have $99 tickets for the bad seats/hillsides. If you are a supposed die-hard fan and your name has never come up on those lists, then how much do you REALLY care? And I'm talking to long distance fans as well. Paying money for Full Court or the FSN sport pack is not helping the AD. Shell out the $100 to join the NCC, it's not that much money.

I'm a small donor, but multi-year season ticket holder. I wanted GMac out, but I understand that it's JPs call and it's likely that ISU can't afford the buyout right now. Oh well, I'll still cheer for them next season even if my MBB season ticket buying is up in the air right now. But my CGC and NCC donations will not be changed. We have way too many people who claim to be big fans yet never donate or buy tickets. They tailgate but don't go into the games. They travel to a bowl game, but don't buy the tickets from the AD. And they b$tch and moan about everything, yet they have no skin in the game.

When I donate I expect something in return. YOU donate and want nothing in return. I am not throwing money away because I cant afford to. Its all called investment. THIS investment is not working.

We, as Cyclone supporters, were 11th in the Big 12 (disclaimer: last hard numbers I have which are a few years old) in financial support to Cyclone athletics. Therefore, if ISU finishes above 11th in the conference in anything, that is your return. As a whole, ISU has been rising in most sports the last four years and way above the support levels we fans have been providing, in my opinion. If we move up in support, we should move up in results.

WOW, I am not a fan because I dont donate anymore to a lackluster program......I gues I better dish out more money so we can keep this program where it is at....

Sorry Pollard, NO production, NO money. If you think we as 'Clones fans would dish out money just to kick in the coinpurse every fricking game. You are sadly mistaken. I personally prefer a product that produces on the court, not regresses.

They tell you to send the money to the AD but they give you poor product. Wont last long

So for someone like me, who has been donating for over ten years, and now I refuse to due to the lack of production that this team shows. I am no longer a fan because I chose not to donate to failure???

Therefore I am no longer a fan of this College according to Pollard...HMMMMM.. Ok. I can go with that. tells me of his mentality to be a greedy bastard that wants people to donate for failure.

There is a difference between not donating UNTIL achange is made and NEVER have donated.

I bet if you were to email Pollard and say I have for the last ten years (if true because he will look it up) he won't have the same thing to say to you.

I like the email the AD sent. It is like soeone who doesn't vote biching about politcs - why you have not done ANYTHING to change the situation.

I think this is pretty obviously fake. Maybe the people who put it up could contact JP to get the real story? Just a thought...

And Better Product = More investors its a circle. Microsoft has to keep putting out good products or no one will invest and they will have no money to put out new products. Why do you think they made windows 7 so fast? After a few months they knew vista was terrible. So what did they do? They didn't say dont worry it will get better keep buying vista and things will turn around. No They dumped Vista and built Windows 7.

You lost me there.

Why do these radio guys get on this site? Don't they have enough air time to give people their worthless opinions?

I think most of us have all got an e-mail at work that really made us angry. You let your emotions run high and get the best of you and you reply to that e-mail. After you hit send you are like -- "Oh no!" I hope that is what happened here. I am going to cut JP some slack on this one. Lesson learned.

Yeah, but you learn from your one time and don't do it again...if you are in a HIGH position of power like JP and you are going off on something public (because anything sent from iastate.edu mail servers is public by the way and you can request the emails by law), you always read over what you say even if you're angry.

You guys realize that stuff from iastate.edu is public right? Down to emails, so you can request to see these emails and see if JP really sent it. FYI

When did he extend his contract? I would like to see the answer to this.

The extensions are part of the original contract. Pollard did not come to Greg a couple years after he started and offer him an extension. The original contract had extensions built in for lost schloarships due to APR issues that resulted from the previous coach/coaching change, and NCAA violations from the previous staff.

2 added years for two scholarships lost for APR issues
1 added year for NCAA infraction with Jiri

That is how the contract was extended. The contract was built that way because our APR was in bad shape, GMac took far less money, and there were rumors of wrongdoing in the D-1 Scheduling deals. Those rumors were false but it didn't matter at the time. Pollard addressed this in the media conference. ISU has to be creative with contracts because we don't have the $$$$ our competitors have.

Yes, but creative should never include a clause that would extend the coaches contract because of Jiri's minor infraction that had no bearing on the future of the program. You can be creative and still be intelligent. The 2 years for losing 2 schollies in the first year that wouldn't have been filled seems excessive but at least some argument could be made for that (though obviously 6 years is plenty of time to overcome 2 lost scholarships that would not have been filled anyway).

Bottom line he got a 9-yr contract before coaching a game. That's an awfully big risk on an unproven commodity. Its resulted in no room to make a change... so nothing left to do at this point but hope Gmac turns it around in Year 5. Looking at our current recruiting, our best hope is that the Iowa JCs are awesome this year!

Jon,

Did you guys run this by JP for comment or to validate? Or was it sensationalistic enough that you went with it?

This is a story. I'm not trying to get a feel from your reaction to it. It's not even my blog! How am I trying to get more attention for my show?

Matt, aren't you the one that posted it on this site? Its the first time I've seen it, anyway.

Really you are going to look at it like that? Ok look at any compnay another example is Apple then. Just replace it vista with the Apple Cube, Apple Lisa, or Apple Newton. The point is when a company comes out with a terrible product they dump it and improve on it.

What makes ISU any different from any company? We have a terrible product, time to dump it and bring a new product.

I have zero problem owning up to stuff that I step in to. No problem at all. And I also don't have any problem explaining things like this.

I was not comfortable with this going on our page. Matt will verify that, as we exchanged a long IM last night. Steve will verify this, as I emailed him about it last night, and I spoke with him about it again this morning. After we chatted about it, I at least got to the point of being ambivalent about it being posted, and said it's his call, and he felt like it should go up.

As for contacting Jamie, we contacted him on Tuesday and gave him an every day invitation to come onto the show this week. He chose to decline, which is totally fine.
