I am hardly upset. Not at all. It's your favorite team, not mine. I wish my favorite team was in a position to capitalize on what I expect to be another wasted year next year for ISU. But I don't think they will

Another person with psychic ability. Do you have an 800 number to call in so I can get the winning lotto numbers.

Look, I've listened to you guys rag on McDermott and Pollard. Upset may not be the most appropriate word. I say you have some kind of agenda. If Iowa has the same kind of year next year, I would hope that you go after Barta and Lickliter the same way.

Jon -- with your keen investigative reporting skills you should probably do the follow-up show on Phillip Jones and Marcus Mills we were all promised after the University of Iowa rape cover-up scandal in 2008. How about a where are they now piece and the personal reactions and insight of Phillip Jones and Marcus Mills?

Go listen to the podcast from todays show at kxno.com, then come back and readdress this with me.

I don't think anyone is saying that. Certainly not me. I wasn't able to donate until a few years ago. Doesn't mean I wasn't a die-hard Cyclone. But, I wouldn't expect the AD to give a rat's *** what my opinion of the program is if I'm not helping to fund the program.

I agree that if you don't donate you shouldn't expect your opinion to be of great importance. However, as a fan he has the right to voice his opinion and if he wants to send the AD a letter so be it.

For the same reason you'll never here political candidates from either party criticize independents, an athletic director shouldn't criticize fans who could later become season ticket holders and donors. That doesn't mean a political candidate would treat an independant's letter the same way as a high level donor, but I guarantee you the independent would not be sent an email basically urging him to vote for the other guy.

So for someone like me, who has been donating for over ten years, and now I refuse to due to the lack of production that this team shows. I am no longer a fan because I chose not to donate to failure???

Therefore I am no longer a fan of this College according to Pollard...HMMMMM.. Ok. I can go with that. tells me of his mentality to be a greedy bastard that wants people to donate for failure.

So take your money and donate to the Cyclone Gridiron Club. Just because you are upset about MBB does not mean that the entire department should suffer.

thumbs up to JP on the response. A guy who never supports the program or even buys tickets is lucky to have even gotten a response. Talk about fan whose voice on the matter is meaningless....

thumbs down to miller, deace, etc for publicizing this correspondence.

I have zero problem owning up to stuff that I step in to. No problem at all. And I also don't have any problem explaining things like this.

I was not comfortable with this going on our page. Matt will verify that, as we exchanged a long IM last night. Steve will verify this, as I emailed him about it last night, and I spoke with him about it again this morning. After we chatted about it, I at least got to the point of being ambivalent about it being posted, and said it's his call, and he felt like it should go up.

As for contacting Jamie, we contacted him on Tuesday and gave him an every day invitation to come onto the show this week. He chose to decline, which is totally fine.

So there was no investigation concerning how valid this actually is? I just find it odd that someone who may be a Clone fan but is a college student at Marquette would take the time to write this and get it to you. I am not faulting you for putting it up because it does promote your line of work, I just think there are some red flags.

Who's call? Matt's or Steve's. I'll give you credit for your .. shall we say - wariness of this.

Just so I have the timeline right. JP returned this email at Tues, 9 Mar 2010 08:43:32 - nearly an hour after your show. Sometime yesterday you called and offered him to come on the show?

Did you refer to this email and get any sort of statement on it? Denial? Ownership?

But since he refused, it was posted at 6:30 this morning.

Wouldn't that be like Obama accepting Rush's invitation to be on his radio show?

Seriously, Miller and Deace and Matt and Miller have done a pretty good job of expressing what you all think of Pollard's move to keep McDermott -- and in some ways what you think of Pollard period (Matt, that was directed at you. Let go of the grudge, man.).

These talk show guys are the biggest drama queens out there. Oh my gosh Jamie said, WHAT? They are like a bunch of high school girls. Come on...talk about upcoming events like wrestling, bball, and spring football.

A guy in JP's position is charged with building the donor list. His "response" looks very petty/unprofessional and does nothing to encourage the writer to help change the situation by becoming an investor in the program. If he wanted to shine a light on the guy's lack of donations, he could have done it in a more positive way and actually given the guy a few reasons why he should donate. Instead, he gave the guy both barrels.

JP's response probably made JP feel pretty good, but now the guy is lost forever. If JP gets a bug up his arse every time a non-donor sends a note in, well, that's not going to be great. Would have expected more, which makes me hope this is a complete fabrication.

This is a story. I'm not trying to get a feel from your reaction to it. It's not even my blog! How am I trying to get more attention for my show?

So I am just skimming through this thread and I am sure this has been said; but if you (Matt) or Miller & Deace want to be taking seriously as reporters lets do a little fact checking before we start stiring the pot. I know this was posted on a blog, but it is irresponsible to post this with out doing some research. I know I get email forwarded to me all the time, and because they are on the internet they must be true!

You posted this for one reason, you are trying to get attention for your show.
