The guy lied about purchasing tickets, Pollard called him on that lie....I don't see the problem with that.

To Matt & Miller, where does it say in the email that you aren't a fan if you don't donate? Pollard is pointing out the fact that the guy lied in his original email.

What did you think was going to happen when you forwarded to the media? Hope you have received enough attention.
And who cares if it does the man we have running our athletic dept is known as a jack***, he has built our facilities but look at the coaches (save CPR) he has brought in and who has stayed. Him and Mac have alot in common they cant keep talent.

honestly, not anything with my name on it. i have called into shows, emailed, and such and its never full name. however i do not have a problem owning up to what i said. i said it. someone asked if i would have handled it differently, and honestly, idk. i dont think his response was appropriate. maybe mine was a bit passionate, and frustrated, but its much cleaner then a lot of things said on here. everyones entitled to their opinions. most of you wont believe it but i didnt do this for publicity. anyone who knows me would know that. and thats my mug all right

Please. If the way he attacked the players makes him not a fan, then about half of the posters here are not fans either.
Where did tiberius say he wasn't a fan? What's with the straw man response to everyone?

I'm curious as to why you forwarded it on to the shock jocks, then, if you didn't want publicity. If you didn't want publicity, that doesn't seem to be the quiet way to go about it.

Theres two separate discussions in this thread-

First- it was probably not a smart decision to send a response like this. Did the guy probably deserve it? After the last couple lines in the email where he personally went after Jamie, yeah. But it doesnt mean it was the smart choice. Looks like this guy really isnt even around here, at marquette, but it could just as easily have blown up in his face if this guy was someone who bought tickets through a major donor.

The other topic here is whether or not donors and season ticket holders should get more attention from the AD. And the answer here is OF COURSE. Its just plain business sense. You take care of your best customers. You walk into a retail store and try to haggle down every little item and the store barely makes any money (if at all) off of you, the store honestly doesnt care about losing your business. You buy thousands of dollars worth from a store every year, they will treat you better as they dont want to lose you.
You come into a restaurant and consistently dont tip, dont be surprised to see your service level drop. Come in and drop a huge tip every time, expect to get better service as they know youre a big customer.

The extra money from a higher donor doesnt necessarily make that donor a better fan, but it does mean that that person should and will be given a higher level of priority and attention than the person who buys 1 or two hillside or upper corner balcony tickets a year.

I admit to not reading all 30 pages of this thread, but where did this "not a fan" come from?

No where...Matt & Miller made it up. They have the awesome shock jock power to interpret anything they read. JP was pointing out that the kid lied in his email, what is wrong with that?

He said he purchased a single game ticket for Missouri. JP said he is not a season-ticket holder or a donor. How did the guy lie, and how did JP call him on it? You honestly think JP has a record of who purchases every single game ticket? If he does, I would like to know how....since those tickets could be bought for cash.

JP implies that the guy is not a fan as he claims to be because he has not donated to the program, or purchased season tickets. It's right there in the email. So basically, he is saying that you are not a fan (as you claim to be) unless you are a donor or season-ticket holder.

Come on people.......this is not rocket-science.

There is no place in the email that Jamie says the kid is not a fan.

In fact, he says, "Glad to know that your feelings are not shared by the majority of other Cyclone fans." Other fans means he acknowledges that Matt is a fan. He thanks him for his email (twice), appreciates his passion and invites him to join the Cyclone Club.

He is not trying to run the guy off, but rather inviting him to become more active.

The embarrassing part of the original email is Matt's threat to start withholding something he has never given. I have no problem with Jamie calling him on this.

Can you read?

Our records indicate you have never made a donation, purchased season tickets or even purchased a single game ticket from our department.

And although I didn't hear it directly...didn't the guy admit he hasn't bought tickets ever to Matt & Miller?

I get around
How can you disagree with that? Were you listening?
This is your comment that I was replying to: "I am shocked at the lack of accountability by our fanbase. Our AD may or may not have said this, but if he did, it looks terrible for ISU, plain and simple. Own up to it."

My reply was that I couldn't agree with that. I don't think it looks bad for ISU. If Jamie did write it, most people are going to say "what's the big deal?" The kid brought up the threat of not contributing or buying any tickets, Jamie didn't. Since the kid brought that subject up, Jamie addressed it.

The sports talk guy is trying to make a big deal out of something that just isn't there, and I feel that some on here are trying to help him make a big deal out of it. I noticed that a hawk fan posted it on the Hawkeye Lounge website. If he wanted to just get Cyclone fans' opinions, as he states, it has gotten much further, thanks to him posting it on his blog.

He's trying to make a big deal out of it (ratings must be down) and some on here are unwittingly (or wittingly) helping him out. My opinion is that it's not a big deal and I don't see anything wrong with Jamie's reply.

It's 6:45 PM now-I just went back to sportstalkmatt's post and listened to the Matt Rainey part. Matt R may say he bleeds cardinal and gold but I don't see it. If anything it's just a ***** of blood and that's all. You notice that none of them belong to the Cyclone Club or Gridiron Club and have not purchased season tickets in a long time. We sure could use some more people to buy season football tickets, it would help out Paul Rhoads quite a bit.

That's just clueless.

He's lost the Chiz and he's lost Cael. No big loss in the Chiz..

Who has he held onto?
He's held onto Bill Fennelly and Christy Johnson Lynch- our most successful coaches by far.
