Without reading all the posts in the thread, I would bet that Gary Thompson is saying, "Greg, if you don't put a winning team on the court next year, I can't help you out any more."

At least, that's what I would be saying.

That's good, but this would be better:
"JP, I helped you out of the hole you made for yourself when you fired McCarney and hired Chizik. Then I helped you out of the hole that appeared when you couldn't make Cael stay as Wrestling coach. Now its time for you to start showing that you can clean up your own mess."

I can't imagine it would be anything good. Even when we've had good teams he's had a tendency to be hyper-critical.

I can understand second guessing keeping him, but I find second guessing the hiring a little ridiculous.

What's so ridiculous about that? I know many who questioned it all along. Good coach at UNI does not necessarily = good coach at B12 school. Terry Allen was excellent proof of that.

I would go so far as to say that it was about a 70-30 split in favor of the hiring of GM. But of the 70% who were in favor of it, at least half of those people needed quite a bit of convincing, or thought the hire was just okay.

Yea.......I guess......

You must be a real stud!

Looked like an interesting forum and just thought I would start chiming in from time to time. Because I actually have a JOB, I don't see me punching in every 20 seconds like some of you.(Sorry)

ONE of my contacts is an X-ISU men's BB coach. I guess you can trust me or not....don't care but why the hell would I make this up?? Do you really believe for a second that they are thrilled with the current situation of the men's BB program??

I suggest that those of you who can read and comphrend English: read Chuck Offenberger's biography "Gary Thompson All American" You might learn something about what it means to be a good citizen, a good business man, and a proud alumni of ISU, and what supporting his alma mater is all about. Not saying this is directed at all contributers here, but the shoe fits, wear it.

Wherever I go, there I am.
Have to agree. The Skype deal was over the top, but obviously, being close to the program as HB has been over the years, he had a lot more insight than the rest of us had...

Let's not trot it all out again. HB can play for whomever he wishes. My guess as I just said is that his manner of announcing his decision did not impress GT. That's all.

Mac is going to be our coach for a long time...Might as well get on board.

How long?

Get on board with what exactly? Sub-.500 records? 4 wins in conference play? 1 win in every 20 tries against rated teams? Player attrition annually the likes of which this program has never seen?

Why exactly are you so firmly in his camp? Why should we be?

Sounds like you are not supposed to post here until you've already posted before!

HERE'S WHAT GARY SHOULD BE TELLING POLLARD TO SAY...Charlotte fires coach Bobby Lutz after 12 seasons - NCAA Basketball - SI.com

BUT WAIT WE DON'T HAVE AS RICH A HISTORY AST UNC CHARLOTTE

Wow, Lutz went 218-158 there including 19-12 this season and THAT still wasn't good enough. From here on out, GMac would need to go 150-90 (about 22-13 each year) just to equal Lutz's record at Charlotte.

GMac's record alone would get him fired at 95% of the schools around the nation, but no, not at ISU. Throw in all the players who have run from the program and you just have to wonder what in the heck is going on in the mind of JP.
