AMES, Iowa - Iowa State fans, alums and their kids should get ready. The expanded Iowa State Tailgate Tour is coming to 12 cities and one is near you. The 2010 tour will include evening stops in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Clear Lake, Omaha and the Lake Okoboji area. This year, the lunch stop schedule has been expanded to include six cities, with one-hour stops planned for Ottumwa, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, New Hampton, Harlan and Sioux City.

“The Cyclone Tailgate Tour has been a complete success in giving our fans free access to our coaches and student-athletes,â€￾ Ryan McGuire, Director of Special Events and the ISU Letterswinners Club, said. “The biggest plus is that the outings are family-friendly with inexpensive food options and activities for children.â€￾

The 2010 tour will start with four stops on its first leg. The first appearance will be May 12 with a noon - 1 p.m. party at Ottumwa's Bridgeview Center.

The Cyclone traveling party will then head for Davenport’s Modern Woodmen Park that evening for a stop that will run from 6 - 8 p.m. On May 13, the tour will head to Dubuque for a lunch stop at Eagle Point-Riverfront Pavilion before ending in Cedar Rapids for an event at the U.S. Cellular Center from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

The second leg begins May 25 in Fort Dodge for a mini-tour event from noon to 1 p.m. at a location yet to be determined. The Cyclone tour group will then head to Waterloo for a 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. celebration at the National Cattle Congress. The tour’s next destination is a lunch stop in New Hampton (The Pub at the Pinicon), before that leg ends with a 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. stop at Clear Lake's Surf Ballroom.
The Cyclone Tailgate Tour continues two weeks later with a mini-stop in Harlan from noon to 1 p.m. at the Harlan Golf & Country Club on June 7. Then it is on to Omaha for a 6 - 8:30 p.m. event the same day at the Henry Doorly Zoo. The tour will continue on to Sioux City for a June 8 lunch stop (location to be determined) before concluding in Okoboji for a 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. get together at Arnold's Park Amusement Park. Pollard, McDermott, Rhoads, Fennelly and Jackson will make these tour appearances.

The tour wraps up with its annual event at the 92.5 KJJY Events Center at 7 Flags in Clive. Nearly all of Iowa State’s head coaches will attend.

I'm glad that they're stopping in the North Iowa area (Clear Lake) because I couldn't make last years' hour stop!

I AM SO PUMPED and it isn't even here yet!

Ditto. My bride took our boys a couple of years ago and we missed last year. I was really looking forward to finally attending.

Yeah, we decided not to take our little ones to the severe weather plagued stop at Canterbury two years ago. After that I sent JP an email begging him to not take it off the schedule. We went last year to the one on Nicollet Island and it was miserably cold. It's no wonder turnout was tepid. The Twin Cities stop just seems like it was doomed from the start. I don't think I can justify going down for the North Iowa stop again this year like we did three years ago.

Well, Waterloo won't be happening as a family situation will prevent me from being there.

Thankfully I have a friend in Mason City. I can crash at her place for a night or two and make it to the event in Clear Lake.
