Yes and no...Buckley would still be behind DG, SC, Phillips, and Bubu...Buckley is a good kid, very up front about everything. Nothing wrong with wanting more PT.

You know, nothing against Buckley, but if he was really going to be playing behind a walk-on, then he shouldn't have been recruited by us in the first place.

This sucks....

A junior scholarship player that some thought would be the starting point guard as a freshman was going to be behind a redshirt freshman walk-on?

Serious question here....has a player ever transferred out before primarily because the ASSISTANT coach who recruited him left the program? I mean, I can understand players wanting to transfer when the head coach is fired or takes another job, happens all the time. But leaving because as assistant coach leaves, even if he was your primary recruiter? How often does that happen?

IMO, really goes to show that McD seems to be sorely lacking in developing any sort of personal bond or relationship with his players, which by this point is a Captain Obvious sort of statement by now. I just wonder how much more JP will put up with this BS. Oh, wait a minute, since JP hired him and JP's ginormous ego seemingly refuses to acknowledge his hiring error, at least one more season.

Brad Brownell formerly of Wright State was hired by Clemson this week. Another good, young coach already poached by another major conference school since we're keeping the status quo....

Hey JP, is this what you meant by "next level"?

Ever? I'm sure they have. It's no secret the assistants are the primary recruiters and develop the relationships with the kids. And for many teams, the assistants act as the buffer, or buddy, for a player against the "big mean head coach".

If you loose that friend or buffer, and don't have a particularly good relationship with the HC, I can completely see why a kid would leave after and assistant.

Seen it first hand.

Are you positive about that?

4 seniors on next years team, probably going have the lowest average attendance in years (if not decades), and we wont win more that 15 games.

Those things I am pretty positive about. Just remember money talks. When the doner's tell Jamie to get rid of Greg, it will happen.

Going to be a while, along while...Keep waiting.

It is quotes like this that make people not really care if you have inside information or not. ISU basketball is an embarrassment. Anybody not realizing this, or not wanting change, are evidently more invested in McD or JP's careers, or their own. No way any rational ISU fan could want more of this crap.

They also have the effect of making people like me, who are diehard Cyclones, actually consider cheering for ISU to lose, so as to rid ISU of the cancer that has infected its men's basketball program. I am disgusted with myself that I actually had to type that, but it is the truth. Ames is a great community and ISU is a fantastic institution that deserves better, much better. Players and coaches should not be bailing as fast as they can, year after year, or during the year even.

I am sick to death of the McD and JP folks who keep telling us "all is well". No, it isn't. Stop saying that. We are doomed. And if this year's men's season turns out as we all think it will, ISU should have two big job openings. No more excuses for this crap. Not when our coach's best year was his first year on the job here.

I bet they keep him through his contract just to save money, we will improve in all other sports and then get a lucky break and grab a coach like Orr who ignites the cyclone basketball fire and we will be on top of the world. Boy I hope my blind optimism pays off.

Why don't you let us just dream?.....the possibility of MBB being under such terrible leadership for another two years is such a dark thought.

I can...just thought I would give you a little bump in the right direction. My bad...
