No, I can take people talking bad about the clones. In many cases they deserve it. And in this case, I totally understand doubting the move. But I don't suffer people being a punk (to me). And the way Matt was going about things was just about the clearest case of acting like a punk you can describe.

Well, I didn't hear the piece so I can not comment on it. However, it seems like some of you are blowing this up into something completely ridonkulous.

Matt, I listened to you show in Omaha from 2003-2006. I attended Creighton as a Law Student and grew up in Ames Iowa.

Way to **** off "the voice of the Cyclones". I will never listen to your program again.

Its obvious from your snickering and giggling that you know nothing about Fred Hoiberg or Iowa State basketball. Get a clue and learn about the Iowa State basketball history before you dismiss this hire.

You just hired "a Valley guy". I am still not sure what that means, but by my estimation it means a guy who can't coach in a BCS conference and manage big time talent at a school with a rich basketball history and a fan base that expects results.

When was the last time Creighton made it out of the second round of the NCAA tournament? That's right...its been a while.

Go back to Omaha and hang out with all the other "Valley guys" at the Upstream.

I stayed quiet cause I'm not getting into a fight with every Cyclone fan who wants to desperately believe that this is a good move when they know it's a hail mary.

Gary Parrish compared it to McCain picking Palin!

Walters was out of line. He knew it. It happens. We all move on....
I am not really going out on a limb when I say "Coach Hoiberg and John Walters will be around long after you have moved on to another career"

If by ridonklous you mean trying to help Matt not make an *** out of himself in the future then you sir are correct. It was akward radio and John Walters has a little more pull then Matt, so draw your own conclusions.

Edit -- I like Matt as a Sports Talk Guy, but this was weird and it was his fault.

How was I disrepectful? To Walters? I didn't say a word about him when I could have said he's a mouthpiece for Pollard....now that's disrespectful.

I just laughed at the hire cause I couldn't believe it. I still can't. It's nuts. Sometimes nuts works...most times - it doesn't. I agree with Keeler - Fred better be sure. MJ thought it was a good idea...it wasn't.

Coaching and playing are very different, as I'm sure he knows, but to learn on the job in the Big 12? Wow.

Wasn't Nurse suppose to be the brains? I just hope he gets an ex-head coach for his staff cause the current one doesn't have enough college experience.

Matt, I can see your point for a bit. Clearly Hoiberg has no prior experience but can you honestly tell me that you are thrilled to, not only give a LARGE LONG TERM CONTRACT but also, pay for a hefty buyout to hire a coach that would have unquestionably been, if not 6 weeks ago had ISU been able to afford the buyout, but at the end of another crappy year in 2010, fired. Maybe you should stop laughing at the ISU hire and look more closely at hiring a coach who has not won in 4 years and who also has MAJOR PLAYER RETENTION ISSUES.

Exactly. As I posted in another thread, MP wasn't saying anything that wasn't already being said by Cyclone fans right here on the website.

Put it this way, have you ever heard of John Walters getting truly ****** off at someone? Anyone? Well he was just that today.

So you think that Walters just flew off the handle for no reason?? I'm sure that he has a widespread reputation as a hothead.:jimlad: Truth is, if you said that you thought it was a bad hire and wouldn't work, no one would have gotten upset. Instead, you chose to giggle like a little girl and demean the hire as ridiculous and laugh-worthy. But hey, I'm sure a guy who has spent 10 seasons in the NBA and another 5 in the front office knows less about the situation than someone who runs the Creighton Rivals board.:jimlad:

BTW, don't you think that if Hoiberg didn't have someone else in mind, he would have kept Nurse on board? Oh well, maybe he can be an assistant at Creighton unless he doesn't want to coach at a mid-major.

While I get it could be from the comments that were made, but do any of you think maybe it was because he was physically and mentally drained and didn't want to play the radio game today?

Matt is a hack.

I called in to talk about the Pollard letter.

I was talking about calling his boss and threatening to withdraw my sponsorship of the show if Matt wasn't fired...even though I'm not a program sponsor.

Matt explained how it would be unprofessional for his boss to hang up on me...about 10 seconds after he hung up on me.

He is a punk who can't accept an opposing point of view.

Oh, no doubt that played a part. But if CW, Ken Miller, Jon Miller, Deace, Murphy, Fales or just about anyone else had been conducting the interview, John would have been his mild mannered self.

I wasn't trying to make an excuse. And the being drained part refered to JW not Matt.

In that case Walters was fine. matt was a complete ***. Matt has been after JP and GMAC for some time and then all of the sudden GMAC goes to Creighton and Matt is all giddy. Completely Superficial and I think that is the problem that people have.

I like Matt's show. Matt's content is not wrong, but the delivery this time was very rough. So let's move on and not make a huge deal out this guys. We have positive to focus on now.

WE as in ISU fans didn't bring this back up. Sports Talk Matt is a pretty obvious handle. Who brought it up again?
