Like I said in another thread I think more and more Hawkeye fans are starting to see this issue in a new light. Who would have thought that something like this could bring ISU and Iowa fans together? As much as I dislike you guys because of athletics I don't want to see this happen to ISU and more importantly the state.

The bad area of the state.
I think this is interesting. I've heard a lot of hawkeye fans very much against ISU in the Big 10 but I'm not sure they are looking at this from the best interest of the state and thus U of I. I think this will have a major economic impact on the state as a whole and its not like UI is going to be immune to the effects.

If money is what this is all about (and it is) ISU to the Big 10 makes no sense. And it's a shame really, because ISU really fits in that conference better than the Big 12 as well.

You cant be serious? Why I think academics is part of the decision, it is not even close to the heart of it. $ is first a foremost the number one factor in all this.

I know very little about these things... so forgive me.

While I agree that athletically ISU bring very few $$$ to the table, even fewer tv sets, prestige, etc.... it would seem that alot of the posturing by many is that conference affliation goes well beyond athletics and into research and $$$ there. Many times over the amount of money athletics bring in. Wouldn't ISU be a prime player with our engineering and ag sciences?

I know Purdue is also a top (maybe THE top) engineering school. Does the Big 10 even touch Ag? Indiana maybe?

It makes sense in every area, from an athletic standpoint and an academic standpoint, but adding more TV sets which is unfortunately the driving factor.

From the Iowa side of things, I've posted this before, but another economic benefit would be all the traffic back and forth, going to and coming from away games. Obviously there would be some of that if NU and MU join, but not ISU, but not as much.

A lot of times people from other schools would also be driving right by Ames and Iowa City (maybe they would stop?) even when the game isn't in state.

Wow...Jon Miller does have a brain.

Seriously, good piece from him and a ballsy move too.

I'm not calling you out (at all) but is this all it takes - one nice thing said about ISU, and the shorts come down? Judge him on his balance of work. I have no idea where this realization of his (or Deace's) is going, but I'm sure he is not sincere. You are being played. He probably got some heat for his comments about the rivalry game this morning and was told to play nice.
