Do we really have any other options at this point?

Yes. Big East? We become more competitive, we have other regional schools with us, and with a renegotiated TV contract in the near future, we have almost the same money that we currently get in the Big XII or greater.

For God's sake, this whole thing is a big farce, and Beebe is incredibly powerless and pathetic.

I haven't ever thought of A&M as being on the same level as Texas and OU. Crazy that Texas does.

I agree. This sucks, and the fact that we are basically a forgotten institution in our own conference is just a piece of crap. 5 schools have NO bargaining power against 1 school in Texas???

They have the TV sets and the national brand. Welcome to America. Money and power over everything else.

We totally got screwed. This is pathetic.

This might be the most depressing day as a Cyclone.

Because we're in the MAC??? We're still in a BCS conference...AGAIN, This could be much much more worse! We have to step it up in the next few years, absolutely have to!!

You go to bed with a *****, you wake up with a *****.

Getting 3 mill from the Mountain West vs taking it in the shorts from Texas and getting 14 mill a year from the Big 12? Perhaps we chose the Devil We Know instead of the Devil We Dont Know.

But increase in Big 12 revenue will help get the regents off our backs and work to make our athletic department "self sufficient", correct??

But thats the thing we aren't getting 14 mill a year from big 12 we aren't getting an increase. Increase in short term is going to south schools and we won't see benefit until 2014

You said it earlier, we'll be guaranteed on TV and make money that way. Our current contracts with Fox/Espn stay the same but only "divided" over 10 teams and not 12. yay :jimlad:

If we're on TV more as soon as NU and CU are gone, that's a definite plus, but they made it sound like there would be new contracts worth more $ and tougher exit penalties to entice people to stay. If those things aren't happening, what in the hell is the reason that anyone stayed?

We'll still be on TV more often, which will allow us to earn revenue that we weren't getting a shot at earlier, but to make this stick we're going to have to get bigger contracts.

Other issue I have is they are estimating revenues 4 years from now. Reality is Big 10 is likely to be not 20 million, but 30 million by then and we will be further behind. This really sucks.

Agree to an extent. We are still playing in a BCS conference which is ultimately the only thing that really matters BUT we could win the next 5 national championships and texas would still **** us over.

So we had a bona fide offer from the Big East? I missed that. I just saw a statement that Villanova, Providence and St. John's threatened to leave if ISU was invited. :wideeyed:

Chris Level just had this tweet.

Beebe is confirming that MU, KU, KSU, BU and ISU all gave in and will give the buyout fee monies to UT, OU and A&M.

How would you feel if you were Okie State or Texas Tech...

You were going to leave just like OU, UT and aTm but you aren't getting any of the buyout money...

now thats a kick in the balls.

Texas, the state, has about 25 million people. Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri combined have about 12 million people. That's certainly much less than Texas, but not nothing.

This sucks. It really sucks. Why did we not pick up and leave with the other 5? We could join NU and CU and vote the conference out of existence and screw Texas. We're not going to make very much more money for at least 4 or 5 years but for all we know, there won't be a Big XII in 4 or 5 years!!!

My biggest disappointment is that there aren't any solid TV $ numbers yet. I could care less about the "buyout money" (which is just less a share of TV money). I want a guarantee that all Big 12 games are televised, and that the new TV contract has been drawn up and will be a significant revenue increase.

Yep I agree, I just hope it wasn't Beebe's brother Bilo that was the consultant that gave him the 14-22 million or whatever numbers per school from a new TV deal.
