Soccer almost has a total lack of excitement. There's some action with running up and down the field, but most of the game is filled with kicking the ball around to each other. Then there is few brief moments when there is some excitement when there is a shot at the goal. But those are only amount to a couple of seconds of game action, and are few and far in between. In essence, most of the game is boring and slow.

All fair points, HiltonMagic. I was just pointing game attendance, and game attendance only.

Sounders average 36K per game. My tickets (at the cheaper end) are $25 per game.

Hey, I totally agree. Hockey is my favorite sport. Just pointing out the trends.

The offsides thing is kind of a killjoy, but what really bothers me about soccer is the random bookings and the fact that it seems like amazing plays tend to result in either losing the ball right at the edge of the penalty area or a shot 20 feet over the net. At least in hockey there's a save or something that comes out of it.

But I do appreciate the skill it takes to play and the great team play. Enough so that I even follow club soccer.

Maybe they should put up big plexiglass sheets around the field........oh wait, that was MILS(indoor soccer), and I actually enjoyed watching that!!!

The reason the World Cup is so popular in other countries is because of the bragging rights that it gives for one country over another. There are natural rivalries in Europe, South America, and Africa because many countries have a history of tensions and are also similar in size. In terms of the US, we already are the best country in the world, so why do we need to be good at soccer? We dwarf every country in North America (no offense Canada) so other countries have no business thinking that they are superior to us, because they obviously are not. Hope I don't sound like an arrogant American.

People here only take the World Cup as they would take gymnastics or bobsled in the Olympics. Not something that you will go nuts about, but something worth rooting for and being patriotic for every 4 years.

Since he's on three accounts in a few minutes right now (by my estimate), I wonder what the record is.

What we've got here is a textbook case of "How to get your IP address banned in less than less than a minute."

So, what is the record for accounts held by one person that managed to be banned?

That's a good question. I'm not sure I know the answer. Isucyfan might. He's sort of the Mod team's duplicate account detective. He's like Columbo and Kojak rolled into one.

It's despicable that someone would do that...:wideeyed:
