I go to the gas station that is most convenient at the time. With that said, when I lived in IC, there was no such thing as a convenient. They are strategically placed in high-density areas that end up causing mass traffic confusion, especially when the new freshman class arrives.

I've known the Krauses donate large amounts to U of I for a while and always have support Kum & Go. The Krauses are good people and Kum & Go is a good locally-owned business. It doesn't bother me in the least that some of my money may find its way into the hands of the University of Iowa somewhere down the road. Then again, I don't hate Iowa as much as some ISU fans do.

This isn't a very good correlation, but by living in Iowa and paying taxes - anything you purchase here will help the U of I (yeah, yeah it helps ISU too, and where you buy gas is your own prerogative unlike paying taxes.) I'm just saying if you live in Iowa, you can't run away from supporting U of I, at least financially.

IMO, if you already use a business and are happy with it, thinking about not using it just because its owner supports your local rival school and sports teams is a bit ridiculous.

Plus, using K&G is still better than supporting BP.

Bill Krause might be a great guy, but his son Kevin is a jack***. He has successfully run a few Iowa pro sports teams into the ground and I worked for him while he ran the QC Riverbandits/Swing of the Quad Cities. He's a complete d-bag and treated everyone like dirt. He was also the mascot when he went to U of Iowa and was the one who got ran over at the Rose Bowl back in the day.

However, his two daughters are HOT!!! and they were fun to be around that summer.

Boycott the morons that speak out against the clones in a rude manner. Dont boycott someone just because they are a grad from UI. They contribute to the Iowa economy which in turn helps everyone.

I learned earlier today that Kum & Go gas stations are owned by a huge Iowa Squakeye booster. A) Why haven't I heard of this previously? and B) Do any of you do business there??

I'm thinking about boycotting them. Maybe I'm over thinking things? LOL.
A) What does this have to do with ISU football?
B) Refer to A.

I think that QT's are better, but I don't have one on my daily commute (Beaverdale to Ingersoll). However, there are 2 Kum and Go's in that stretch.

The Krauses might be Hawk fans, but I think that K&G also gives money to ISU, and the company doesn't publicly promote the Hawks over the Clones. I have no problem doing business there. As someone else said, it's not like it's the Front Row.

I think that I have seen the Hawkeye flag flying outside of the K & G headquarters, but I agree with your main premise.

I do prefer the local QuikTrip. Super clean stores, great employees. And boycotting your local BP store has no impact on the corporation as a whole, it just screws over the local gas station owner.

The name Kum & Go isn't nearly as bad as the "Pump & Munch" stations that are in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

I prefer Sinclair myself - they have the highest grade fuel. Casey's has the best doughnuts though.

This. If we're going to get all up-in-arms over K&G being owned by Hawk fans when they've donated money to ISU, we had better be prepared to take the Jacobsen family name off of the athletic building and the plaza supposedly to the east if JTS, because the Jacobsens are a family filled with Hawkeye fans that just happen to donate large sums of coin to the ISU athletic department.

Kyle Krause is not a very good guy. I happen to know him (and his family), as well as numerous employees of Kum & Go and Amici, their coffee shop.

Also, from an employee of K&G, the company buys BP gas for their pumps, at least in DSM. Locally, central Iowa only has like 2 gas supplies? I don't know if this is completely right or not, just what I've heard, but one of them is definitely BP.

I'll just stick to supporting QT, which is the best convenience store chain out there. If you don't happen to live in DSM or KC (or another city with QT), I feel bad that you can't experience it.

I believe there are 3 gas suppliers in this area, BP being one. So much for this stoopid 'boycott' bp gasoline. for a long time, costco i know used BP, but they switched when pricing and delivery went up. i forget what they told me they switched to.

the person also told me that casey's didn't filter their gas at the station level.

If Kevin Krause truly is who you say he is, what a tool - he only took the River Bandits, one of the top 10 most marketable sports identities in Minor League Baseball (semipro teams from New York were using the Bandits logo) and flushed that all down the toilet for the "Swing", one of the most mocked identities in all of sports.

All of us in the QC area were relieved when the new owners had the brainpower to bring back the identity (or at least to include the identity in a public vote, one that everyone knew was going to win), updated to include the previous mascot Rocky and the Centennial Bridge, one of the landmarks of the area.

I go to Kum & Go for the fountain drinks and the free paper with $15 gas purchase.

We get gas every Sunday so I don't have to pay for the Register, but I still get to read the comics and see the Best Buy add.

Back on topic, I agree that as long as they don't blatantly bow down to the Hawks, they are ok with me.

If I boycotted every business in Iowa that were Hawk supporters or owned by Hawk fans, I would have a lot less stuff and would have quit a few jobs.

Wow. What's it like living in a bomb shelter for the past 25 years?
