We've heard from Herman that he is tremendously accurate, and recently McKnight said he is making HUGE strides in the weight room. Am I right to be excited about this kid?

I always thought he was a throw-away scholarship, a last-minute grab because we desperately needed a backup QB. Then after seeing him in the PA all-star game and being less than impressed, my suspicions seemed to be confirmed. But after hearing more about him, I'm wondering if we're looking at the wrong guys when discussing who will be Arnaud's successor. It's always appeared to be a battle between Tiller and Barnett, but ... not so fast, my friend ...

The one thing that is for sure to be a plus for ISU football is the QB competition will be fierce and it should place us in a better position to win a bunch of games.

Agreed - this is what i've been discussing as ISU's biggest fault with AA and to some extent in a limited role with Tiller....

I would much rather have a pocket qb that can move along line of scrimmage not necessarily a runner - just moves to give himself more time and deliver a pass into a tight space....

I think in Hermans offense, you give him an accurate passer and you will be successful.....Thats no bum on AA or Tiller because it was their first year and just learning the offense is a job in of itself...but now they know it, they should be able to allow their natural ability to take over now....

time will tell, but, i think Capello is very much in the race to succeed AA.....cannot put a price tag on Accuracy - it got Troy Aikman into the hall of fame!!!!!

Way up there
I think the work this kid has done in the weight room is paying off. I saw him while in Ames a couple months ago and would've never guessed he was a QB from the way he's put together. It'll be interesting how he develops on the field. As others have said you don't need a big arm in this offense, just be able to get it to the guys who can make plays.

I was not impressed by what I saw out of him at the Spring game. Pretty limited action though. He could surprise...who knows.

I think that Capello has put himself into position to at least compete for the job. Should be an interesting spring. Tiller is going to be the favorite for sure, but I have no doubt Capello and Barnett will get their shots.

I've only seen Capello at the spring game, and I came away thinking that he's a serviceable backup. Granted, he's young and has plenty of time to develop, but I think he has a lot of work to do if he's going to beat out Tiller in '11 or '12.

On the plus side, Capello could really prove valuable down the road if the passing game needs an injection of life.

I wish all the QBs well. From the people I know in Texas, Barnett is the real deal. Tiller has worked hard, and Capello is doing the right things.
