One area that James has to work on is leadership skills. Austen and Jerome are or are capable of being team leaders at the moment.

I haven't seen enough accuracy out of Tiller, same with Arnaud, to feel good about him starting in '11. I'm sure he has improved though. I too, like some of you, hope to find a pocket passer that is mobile and very smart, like Reesing. I think Barnett and Capello fit that mold. I think we really missed out on James VandenBerg from, Keokuk.

Yeah I think the competition will be between Capello and Barnett. I mean Tiller will be in it, but I don't think he wins it.

If Capello ends up being our most accurate thrower, then he will always be in the mix IMO.

Just think how different the Iowa game would have been with an accurate thrower out there for ISU. It would have at least been a game.

It really depends on what type of spread QB Herman and Rhoads want. If we want a Bradford type it will be Cappello, if we want a Tebow type it will be Barnett. One is an accurate pocket passer the other is a mobile playmaker.

And we are already forming the offense around the Barnett type with Arnaud.

The offense is the same. The playcalling is what changes. They will find the QB that gives us the best chance to win and call the plays to make it work the best.

some of you are pretty quick to make rash assumptions.

Those of you saying no way he beats out tiller. Saying you weren't impressed by him at the spring game (in all 7 or so of his plays). Yo, capello was a freshman last year, give the guy a break and give him some time.

No way you can call barnett the starter over him in 3-4 years! Barnett just stepped on campus! Let em compete

My friend who is an Iowa fan talks about Tiller a lot and thinks hes the real deal.

Tiller has the physical tools. No doubt about that. If he can put them together he will be the guy. I think Barnett looks like the real deal right now. WHole different story in college football but based on his high school stuff he looks to be very very good.

We've heard from Herman that he is tremendously accurate, and recently McKnight said he is making HUGE strides in the weight room. Am I right to be excited about this kid?

I say wait till you see the kid ISU just brought in. Supposedly could jump Tiller next year. Capello is accurate but doesnt have the size. With accuracy comes too much confidence in that and sometimes throws into tight spaces. Not saying you shouldnt be excited, I just wouldnt expect him to see a ton of field.

I disagree with some of you in this thread. I definitely expect Tiller to start and do very well for 2 years.
