When Nebraska played USC, Notre Dame, Penn State, etc...those games were all scheduled by Bill Byrne. Pederson did set up the games agains UCLA, Tennessee, and Miami I believer. My problem with Pederson is the rest of the games. Granted, those are getting tougher and tougher to schedule because the little guys (Fresno State, Utah, Boise State, Souther Miss, etc...) all want return dates now and more $. There is no doubt that scheduling is getting very difficult for the BCS conference ADs. If the Big 12 goes to a 9 game conference schedule it will get even tougher because teams "need" 7 home games for the revenue.
Also, Nebraska has not dropped anyone from their schedule to schedule an easier opponent. Whoever it was that said that is 100% wrong. It's also laughable to think they are scheduling these cupcakes to ensure the sellout streak remains intact. It's quite the opposite. It's the crappy teams that they have to sell single game tickets the week of, and most of the time it's because the opponent returned tickets.
I'm not saying Nebraska will or has ever had the toughest nonconference schedules. I think Byrne did a pretty good job of putting together decent noncon schedules and Osborne has done a decent job of making it better for the next 4 years or so. There are definitely teams that have tougher schedules year in and year out. OU always has tough non-con schedule. Colorado use to have some of the toughest year in and year out. Nebraska is usually in the middle of the pack, but last year and this year are pretty weak. As a fan, I think it sucks. I'd much rather see them play Fresno State than Western Kentucky.

I don't know who they dropped, but I recall they made some major changes to the non conference. I don't have access to the previous schedules, but am pretty confident changes are made on a regular basis. I will call the athletic dept. and see if they will respond.
Tailgating is done dry immediately to the northwest of the stadium in a fairly small parking lot. Tailgating is done wet on hundreds of boats that are docked on Lake Washington to the east. If you have good connections, I would try to find your way to the lake. Washington fans are a lot more laid back than most of the other fans I have come across. It's a great venue and the people are really nice.
I was at the Apple Cup (which is the big rivalry game) and most of the tailgating seemed very RV-centric. Small courtyards of tailgating were created by multiple RVs blocking off areas. I would say that I wasn't as comfortable "floating" around the tailgating area with strangers as I was back in Ames.
Make sure to try to the Ivars' Clam Chowder at the game. It's pretty good and is pretty unique.
P.S. Buy some Dawgs apparel and wear it to the game.
This would be incorrect. The only major schedule change I recall is when TCU backed out of a game in Lincoln about 10 years ago before they turned the corner.
So we are still waiting to here who the "several teams" are that Nebraska dropped from their schedule? Just confirming.

Props to OU and CU for those schedules. ISU is pretty good too. But, man, the rest of the conference is pathetic. It would be interesting to see this for all the BCS conferences. I'm sure it's out there, I'm just too lazy to look it up today.
I think the big 12 wouldn't look so bad if you compared it to the other BCS conferences, especially the SEC. THey won't play anyone outside of "Dixie"
Houston and SMU are bowl teams and Houston has an outside shot at going undefeated. Not a bad schedule, IMO...
5. Kansas: North Dakota State, Georgia Tech, at Southern Miss, New Mexico State
