I finally figured it out. It is so obvious that I can't believe no one else has figured it out as well. Meyer is not passing to Blythe because of all the Blythe-to-the-pros talk in the preseason. They are roomies and Meyer doesn't want to be left at ISU by himself so he is sabotaging Blythe's pro future until next season. It makes perfect sense.:wink0st:

We are working on our other receivers for the big Nov Missouri game on our way to Shreveport. Actually, let's throw more to Marques Hamilton to get him some touches. Then we can recruit the Waterboy and Cy the Mascot to catch a few. Spread it around so everyone touches it once or twice a game. Get everyone the game experience this year so they will be ready for next year.

While I would love to think you cracked the code...I think both men are way too competitve to sabatoge each other. Both just want to win. I think as the season progresses we'll see more out of each of them.

I came up with that conspiracy a week ago, but didn't post it because I didn't want people yelling at me. :yes4lo: I certainly hope that's not true. Blythe has said he wants to stay for another year at college, and I think he'll stick true to his word.

I hate to fault Bret Meyer b/c I think he's doing a good job, but he needs to keep his options open and look to the second and third guy. He's locking in on that first guy and the opposing defense has been all over it. I would like to think he'll get better on this...only time will tell.

I think not being the focus of the offense is more incentive for him not to return next season. Everyone here is aware of the accolades that were showered upon him heading into the season; people know who he is. If you think he's going to stick around for another season of gross under-utilization you're crazy.

I realize this isn't really a serious topic, but in reality if the offense continues to exclude him, I would expect Blythe to leave.

I think Amy makes a good point there - it's early in the season, and one would hope he just hasn't hit his stride yet. Hopefully Blythe won't get tired of waiting.
