I agree the Twins have an easier schedule from here out, but the Sox still are playing teams that are all out of their races and can be counted on to play AAA players to get looks at them.

The teams playing the contenders are almost always professional enough to play their "A" team. The Royals have already stated that they will against both the Twins and Sox. The Red Sox are easily beatable regardless of who they start. A good situation for the Twins is that the A's usually dominate the Sox at home.
This is also getting ahead of myself, but its fun to poll. Supposing we do make the postseason....who is the #1 starter? I can look at the numbers and go both ways....Liriano or Pavano?
MVP is hard to call this year. Early Mourneau carried the squad. Then Delmon had an amazing hot streak and Mauer got it cranking. And although his numbers aren't great, where would they be without Cuddy stepping in at first? Not to mention old man Thome is getting it cranked up now.
Considering all the injuries they've had to both pitchers and position players, this has to be the best job of managing Gardy has ever done. Total team effort to get them where they are right now.

Can we talk about how awful Cuddy and Kubel's base running is? That's cost us a couple times and worries me for the post season.
Scotty Ulger is the liability IMO. I've seen him get at least 10 runners thrown out at the plate this year by 5 steps.
That's a good point. It always seems, to me anyway, that Cuddy and Kubel make some stupid risks around the base path.
With Cuddy I think it's because he often tries to do too much. With Kubel, it's because he can't run.
Those look about right for the 1987 team. I was a huge Puckett fan, still am. I used to go up to games with a class friend. It was always the highlight of my summer. Some summers we would go to KC to watch the Twins to spice it up a bit.
One summer in Minnesota we were staying in the Hyatt and a guy walked on the elevator with a broken bat. My friend and I knew that it was from the game and were in awe. The man noticed and told us he was the umpire and gave us tickets to the next nights game. They were right behind home plate. At the beginning when he talked to the managers we are sure he pointed at us to the managers. Later that game an usher brought us two autographed balls, one by Kirby Puckett and one by Hrbek... My buddy already had a Hrbek ball, so I didn't get my favorite player's ball... we ended up drawing for the Puckett ball, and he won. Oh well. It was a great memory.
We also ran into Dennis Eckersly one time in the hotel. My final highlight was Danny Tartabull tossing me a ball in batting practice.
The 1991 team may have been minus Gaetti, is that correct? I don't remember for sure. They had Leius at 3rd. They also had Larkin and Randy Bush.
My favorite thing about this team was that Knoblauch was good... when he went to the Yanks he fell off the map. It seemed like we got rid of good players who got better... see David Ortiz.
Agree with you here. The White Sox still have me nervous.... they haven't lost too many lately.
Knoblauch had some good years in NY, but then he completely lost the ability to throw it from second to first.
Ortiz got better because he started doing roids.
I agree. It seems that he believes each Twins runner rounding third has Carlos Gomez speed.
I'd love to see him waving Thome around with that mindset.

Mike Pagliarulo and Scott Leius both played 3rd in 1991.....1987 and 1991 were 2 great summers!
I was at Target Field last weekend and saw Gagne enshrined into the Twins Hall of Fame...he still looked like he could play!
that was a pretty cool ceremony followed by a beat down of the rangers...glad i got to see thome hit 2 hr's while i was there
