The Clones came out flat. The Clones were more concerned about future conference games that are more important.
He treats this like any other game, as he should.
I hate to break it to all of you chicken littles, but the games against KSU, KU, NU, CU, and Mizzou are SIGNIFICANTLY more important than any game against Iowa.
I hate losing to the hawks as much as anyone, but I would trade a loss in that game for a win in a Big XII north game any time.
Bury your head in the sand if you want... I will be cheering on my Clones in a game 'that matters' next week!
You are high as hell if you think the CU game means more to this program than the Iowa game. Sure if we play CU the last game of the season for the chance at the North title...then sure. But ISU plays for the chance to go to bowl games. We don't play for conference titles...sorry, but we just don't.
I promise you that the Cyclone football 'goals' look something like this, please pay attention to where 'Beat Iowa' falls on the list:
1) Qualify for bowl game
2) Win bowl game
3) Clinch Big XII north
4) Win Big XII championship
5) Win National Championship
29D) Beat Iowa
From my perspective I was extatic when we got 1 & 2 (last year) and would be beside myself if we ever get 3-5. I couldn't really care less about 29D.

Kind of my thoughts on this. Like I said, if we can get to a bowl, this game doesn't matter. Of course we want to beat Iowa, but there are bigger fish to fry. My worry is that with the way we played today, we don't have much of a pan.
CyPride said:better get that do rag avatar to get our mojo back.
As soon as you set your avatar to Rick Stanzi to show your true colors.
I would care less if I didn't live in Iowa. I would rather go to a bowl game before beating Iowa BY FAR, but the Hawk fans here are unbearable. It would be nice to get a win in just to shut them up. (FYI, I don't shove it in their face if we win. I'm just happy I don't have to listen to their asinine remarks and arrogant talk.)You are high as hell if you think the CU game means more to this program than the Iowa game. Great, like I said..we are playing for bowl games. I'm glad you put that at number 1 because it is number 1.
But how do you think we, as a program, get to the place where we are playing for and winning bowl games on a consistent basis?
1. Money
2. More fans (that give and spend more money)
You will absolutely not get anymore of these (and possibly less) if you don't compete with and beat Iowa on a constant basis.
Conference wins>win over Iowa. Rhoads recognizes this. As fans, we all should too...it's not that he underemphasizes it. Iowa is a very good team, but Rhoads knows this game means state bragging rights, but wouldn't make or break our season. We have goals to achieve this season. It starts with beating KSU.
This is it - exactly. Great post. We cannot continue to be embarrassed like this by our arch-rival and build a program at ISU. This was awful.
