And I have to say, I had a really good time outside of the game. We got invited to multiple tailgates, and all the hawk fans were really nice and cordial. I was really surprised.

So if any hawk fans are reading, thanks! I have a lot of respect for you guys now.

And wow, that stadium is so many light years ahead of ISU for concessions, restrooms, amenities, sound and music choice, and atmosphere.

Glad you had a good time at Kinnick!

Hopefully the new (not very well liked) tailgating rules will have some sort of effect in drawing attention to all the "knuckleheads"...

There were cops EVERYWHERE, 10x what I have ever seen at ISU. They made a point to keep people off of the public streets and sidewalks with booze. But I did not see anyone have any issues.

Just got back too and I had a very similar experience. Today was the first time I had tailgated in IC since 2006. The fans were much nicer and nothing was thrown at me. Nobody even yelled trash-talk at me. It was weird.

It probably had to do with most people not viewing ISU as a threat to beat Iowa, but it was still a nice change from 2006.

its because geoffrey cant get his head out of his *** long enough to figure out that he needs to quit stealing money from the AD department and just let them spend money on athletics so we can actually be good at football and have a better stadium

I went with my neighbor who you guys know as Hawkfromnorwalk. Had a great time and didn't have any problems except for a little ribbing during the game. We parked next to a group of other ISU fans and we ended up combining our tailgates because we brought a satellite. I've been to IC before a few times for both the ISU game and others and this time was more fun than any of those other times. I can't help to think that what Miller and Deace were saying this week is coming true, that the rivalry might be losing some of it's edge because I really didn't feel much animosity from the Hawk fans at all.

I had a similar experience yesterday. For the most part no one game me a hard time aside from the occassional good-natured ribbing. There was one guy that told me after 5-6 more beers he would be at the point where he wanted to fight Cyclone fans...but that was really the only d-bag I ran into.

I have to agree with this. The atmosphere did feel a bit muted yesterday, and generally I got the vibe that Iowa fans just general don't care as much about the rivalry as they used to. This game used to be fun because we always seemed to "play up" and make the game competitive. As of late we've just gotten our ***** kicked, and to be honest I wouldn't hate to see the game go.

I also had a surprisingly good time in IC. I figured there would be more trash talking, but the Hawkeye tailgate we were at was great.
