Which AL playoff teams do look good? The Yankees have been garbage in September. The Rays are trying their butts off to suck as bad as the Yankees have. The Rangers are limping into the playoffs...

Just trying to get healthy. If Mauer, Thome, Hardy, etc don't play this weekend then it's time to worry. There's something to be said playing in games that don't mean anything, especially pitching. Gardy and company weren't going to burn out by playing for the best record, just want to be healthy as possible. We've seen what happens when you have to play balls to the wall the entire stretch run. Same can be said for the other teams too, it seems. They all know they'll be there and don't care about positioning.

They'll be fine.

I'm jealous. I'm sure they will pick things up come next week. It should be awesome at Target Field.

yea, a bunch of playoff teams haven't been winning...the twins games are the only baseball games i really pay much attention to so i can't really compare, but it just seems like they've given up a ton of runs in the last few games...i'm hoping that getting back to target field for the playoff games next week will get them fired up to play...that place is amazing

I agree that things aren't looking good. People use the excuse that they are resting players. But run support hasn't been the problem for the most part. So it shouldn't matter that we are resting some of our top bats.
The pitching has been awful this past week. Our starting pitchers for the ALDS (Liriano, Pavano, Duensing) just got rocked by Detriot this weekend. That is what concerns me the most.

I'm not too worried yet. I will be if Mauer, Thome and Hardy don't get healthy though. The pitchers seem to have lost concentration or something since they clinched.

I also remember though that the '87 Twins lost like their last 5 or 6 games before the playoffs started......and then went on to win the Series, so....

yea, that's what scared me the most...i'm hoping that it doesn't mean that much because it reality these games don't really matter so they're pitching more to stay loose and warm (yea that sounds bad) than they are to win the game...they should pick it up for they playoffs when they are giving it their all

well that sounds like a sign to me...i think that all 3 of them will be ready to go for playoffs...i just read something on yahoo that said thome went back to target field to get his back treated and that he'll be ready for the playoffs...gardy also said that hardy has been checked out and is fine

They showed a graphic on the FOX Sport North tonight about how the Twins lost the last 5 or 7 games of the 1987 season.

The Rays clinched a playoff spot tonight, but the Rays and Yankees still have a division title to fight over, while the Twins continue to get ready for the playoffs.

Definitely not the subject I was hoping for when I opened the thread. Can't win them all.

They have both stated that setting their playoff rotations and staying healthy for the playoffs is more important than winning the division. Don't expect more than a pillow fight for the division.
