I'm surprised there was only one mention Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. It's not one of my personal favorites, but it's ALWAYS on the top of the lists when music magazines do these types of list.

And whoever said Let It Be has got to be joking. If you could hear a band actually breaking up on a record, that would be the album that would show it.

Back to the question at hand, the Beatles fan in me wants to say the White Album, but I'm going with a curveball and putting out Arcade Fire's "Funeral". I don't know how to post pics of the album cover, but for those that have never heard this album, it's a MUST. I could listen to this album for month's straight.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
  1. Funeral for a Friend (one of the best openers live - very long - saw him twice. Once in Hilton early 80s at the end of a tour - not great - saw him at Red Rocks in Colorado to start the tour - AWESOME [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p_xAToFzck]YouTube - Elton John - Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (Yellow Brick Road 1 of 21)[/ame]
  2. Candle in the Wind
  3. Bennie and the Jets
  4. Saturday Nights All Right For Fighting
  5. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
And one that I like that nobody has heard - Grey Seal

Captain Fantasic is awesome too (not close to the best of all time though) - As a young guy I especially like the bare chested girl on the inside of the album.

Abbey Road- The Beatles

Warehouse- Husker DU. 20 songs of power pop bliss.

Starfish-The Church. Some of you may recognize the song "Under The Milky Way" from the movie Donnie Darko.

I think that person was referring to an album by The Replacements.

Replacements are certainly one of the best bands ever. You never knew what you were going to get with their live shows. Either the best show of your life or the worst train wreck of a show. They partied so hard and were so anti everything. In their early days if they knew record company executives or scouts were at their show to check out their potential for signing a deal, they would deliberately play like crap. They were genuine that is for sure.

Beatles top the charts... any album is a pick em.

I also thought Brain Salad Surgery by Emerson, Lake and Palmer was a classic.

I have three favorites, but I don't know if I can choose which one is best.

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies
Led Zeppelin - III
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here

Metallica's best albums in order:

1. Ride the Lightning
2. Master of Puppets
3. Kill Em All

Garage Days Re-Revisted would get a mention.

The rest don't exist in my mind.

Metallica Re-ordered in order of their true BEST:

1. Ride the Lightening
2. And Justice for All
3. Master of Puppets
4. (tie). Black
4. (tie). Kill Em All
5. Garage Days Re-revisited
6. the one with the symphony

Everything else sucks
