There is a reason Farley has never moved up the coaching ladder.

That and he doesn't really have a recruiting base. They do a really good job of building up Iowa kids (better than we've done the past 10 years). Other than that, they have gotten some big transfers from 1A schools. BCS schools look at the way they recruit and assume that it doesn't translate to the higher level.

I wonder what he said in the presser after the Iowa game last year... it'd be a fun comparison.
It went something like this:

Media: So what did you think of the game?
Farley: Well, we lost on a couple of last second field goals, but we should have won.
Media: How can you explain missing 2 field goals on the last play?
Farley: Well, I'm a pretty big Iowa fan myself, as well as the rest of our fans, so I didn't want to completely ruin Iowa's season by losing to us.
Media: So you missed the field goals on purpose?
Farley: Yes, that is correct.
Media: That's stupid.
Farley: Not really... you see, most of our fans, and myself, are actually Iowa fans first, and UNI fans second. And we want to see Iowa run the table for a national championship.
Media: So, what's it like coaching against your favorite team?
Farley: Well, its hard, but sometimes you just need to miss a couple of field goals so your team gets their way. We are still the second best team in the state anyways.
Media: ummm.. ok?

I am guessing that Terry Allen hurt his chances of ever moving up the ladder. He didn't do so well at Kansas

Last Year: Our boys played an excellent game but Iowa it definitely the better team in the long run. I wish Kirk Ferentz and the hawkeyes luck for the rest of the year.
This Year: We were the better team! If we hadn't turned the ball over 5 times, the game definitely would have been ours. Plus, those big 12 refs were against us all game. We were the better team, we only lost by 27...

He was on one of the local sports talk shows yesterday. I think "out of bounds". Dude is a bitter man. Not very professional. IMO will never make it as a head coach at the next level.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those were technically MVC officials for a non-conference road game?

Farley better get used to it. The days of every FCS and MAC team being a nail biter are over with Rhoads. If the offense had been clicking at all that's a 40+ point victory and practice time for third string.

That QB may be fast but he didn't look dangerous all night.

Im so glad we stomped the **** out of those guys. **** UNI and all their smugness. Coach Rhoads knows how to beat the **** out of a weak opponent like the ***** cat panthers were.

Good god people. What did you want him to say?

Those turnovers we had were pretty much all on our players. They were just a bunch of sloppy rookie mistakes by our young players. And our defense played great.

Coach Farley has always been respectful of the Iowa State program, and had nothing but good things to say about your football team. Coming into the game he continually stated how well coached they were, and that they were a much better team than the last ISU team we played.

Unless a by trick play, last second fluke, or key injury I generally assume the better team won. At least on that day. It would be a good line of thought for others to adopt as well.

He said SFA was the best team IN OUR DIVISION that we would play this year.

And who's to say we weren't better than ISU last year? Our 1 common opponent was Iowa, and you guys got crushed at home, and we come within a hair of beating them at their own place.

i heard that bit on Sound Off. It could have been taken out of context, but it wasn't done so by just me.

Farley carries a fairly large chip on his shoulder, but he probably needs to given his program's position in the state.
