Why do class reunions spark new romances?

Because all the Iowa grads are now out of the closet looking to make up for lost time.

Yikes. TMI at my last reunion (20) where I learned one of my classmates is now carrying on with the old PE teacher in a very public affair.

There really isn't anyone in my class that I'd tap at this point in time...

Because you were a nerd in high school. Now you went to college and earn mediocre money. That hot girl is now 30lbs over weight, divorced, and has 2 or 3 kids. You still want to conquer that fine piece, and she sees you as a stable home for her kids. She's already had all the dudes she will ever need, you get to be with her, and everyone is happy.

Might as well shut it down, here's the correct answer.

The once flat chested girl with acne, big dorky glasses, bony legs, and nappy hair, has now grown and developed her boobies, gotten rid of her acne, has contacts, can now fill out her jeans with a fit butt, and has a sexy hair style.

And the same complete and utter lack of self esteem that can only come from an adolesence full of rejection.

Well, if the OP is talking about a "relationship" you have a good point. But, if he is talking about a 1 night stand, your point is moot.

The Big Chill showed us that an old friend's suicide can have much the same effect.

Wow. Not an appetizing discussion really. Its more of a general statement on life, Seinfeld said it best. "How are all these people getting together?" "Alcohol."

I rather enjoyed my last reunion cause I got to take a wife with me that was better lookin than all the tail I couldn't get in HS :)

Because alcohol always does that? I don't call them romances though, more like drunken hookups.

I went to my 10 year reunion a few years back. Even if I wasn't married there wasn't a single woman there that I would have "hit" - that night or back in HS. The people that showed up for our reunion would be what Grace might have called "The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, and ****heads". It had this feel of everybody that showed up to the reunion had already been hanging out with each other every other weekend to get ****-faced since HS, and me just going to college and making something of my life made me more of an outsider than I ever was in high school. Ironically all of the really popular girls in my HS class also happened to be the really smart girls, so they were probably too busy living their successful lives to show up for their 10 year reunion. Looking back I wish I had taken their cue and have no desire or intention of showing up to any other reunions in the future.

That sounds more like Karen than Grace.

Do you NOT know your Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

Grace: Oh, he's very popular Ed. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, ****heads - they all adore him. They think he's a righteous dude.
