going to be a wild year in the b12. wouldn't surprise me if the league champ only goes 12-4 and then half the conference is between 7-9 and 9-7. Nebraska, TTech and Colorado have their best teams in years, KSU and Mizz think they'll be better than last year, OSU is saying they have their most athletic team, A&M is coming off 5 straight NCAAs, and we haven't even mentioned KU, Baylor, or TX.

we're going to take some lumps, but our 11/12 roster excitement and a few key players leaving next year should result in some optimism for us.

Just talked to DG.

Team refers to Jake Anderson as "Uncle Jake." Anderson is much older than most on the team. Treats guys like he is their dad.

Probably a perfect guy to have on the team this year...maybe would have made a difference in team chemistry last year too.

Martin is a surprise. He has done a good job winning with his players. I think he's done enough to say he didn't ride Huggins coat tails.

I hate to admit that.

How much of Martin's success at K-State is related to Bob Huggins? I know very little about Martin, but it wasn't until Huggins/Beasley that the Wildcats became relevant again in the Big12.

Martin and Delonte Hill came in with Huggy to KState. When Huggy left, Martin was retained mostly to keep their all star recruiting class happy.

Delonte is the recruiter and Martin is the coach. KState pays HUGE money to Delonte Hill to keep him on as a recruiter. Last year he got a new contract worth $250,000 with incentive bonuses that could push it to over $500,000. As long as he continues to bring in the recruits, Martin will be successful.

Interesting side note. Hill was an assistant to Bobby Lutz at Charlotte before Huugy lured him away with a big assistant contract. Why did Huggy want him so bad?? Because as soon as Hill signed with KState, Beasley decommited from Charlotte and committed to KState.

The Widcats are either really smart and are setting a new model for coaching pay scales or some of that money being paid to Hill is getting funneled to the players (or both). The jury is still out on that.

It gives me chills when Fred says, "If that ball goes in the basket then we need to hurry up and get it in and have the gaurds flying up the court". Oh man i love up tempo offense.

How would you describe your coaching philosophy.

Frank Martin:

"I don't know. Probably fun for you to watch."

They do win, and I like the effort, but all the fouls and rough play can really make the game herky-jerky and it's not exactly the most fun to watch. He is successful in that Larry mold though and you have to respect the job he's done.

On any standouts so far besides the ones you'd expect...

“Calvin Godfrey is a guy that is tough. He understands who he is. He is a monster on the boards. We are going to have to gang rebound. I talked to our perimeter guys about getting in there and helping out on the boards. They are doing a solid job but a lot of nights we are going to be undersized. We need to get the mentality that all five are going to get in there and get the rebound.â€￾

Just show these guys tape on the 2000 team, specifically the UCLA game.

I love that style of play, and prefer it over up-tempo.
