I have been on the sidelines a lot

After watching the play a few times I felt the Texas player made initial contact and Darks was trying to get off him. Either way, he got his hands involved so I see why they called it. Even if the Texas player had no shot to make a play on the ball.

Yeah that's what DD said. He said he was running a slant and the guy just crushed him.

It was on DD, still a bad call but he did make contact early.

Did they call it on Franklin? I seem to remember an OPI going against Franklin on a block he threw downfield on a short pass to Lenz that went for a 20 or so yards...but at that point there was a great deal of adrenaline, lingering fear and Coors Light going through my body.

I saw Mac eat a ref's *** or two.

I know he'd get after them at times. He wasn't a statue on the sidelines, but imo, he was never one that put the fear of God in a ref's eyes. I think Rhoads took it as close to the line as he possibly could have the other day and I don't think Mac would have gone to that extreme. Did it do us any good? Debateable, but at least he's out there fighting and that's what I want to see as a fan. As someone else has mentioned, I've got to assume the players like to see it.

How about Wayne Morgan never eating a refs *** in his life. Even the phantom 3 pointer in the middle of a 2 shot foul. That annoyed the crap out of me.

ummm, I remember Morgan going on a tirade after that happened at Kansas. I specifically remember the announcers on TV saying "The only reason the refs aren't giving Wayne Morgan a T is because they know they screwed up." He might not have yelled at refs much, but he did that time, for about 5 minutes straight.

Lattimer was blatantly held on about 75% of the plays in the 4th quarter, and actually tackled, a couple of times from behind, on about 25% of the plays. Never seen anything so bad and you knew they weren't going to call it.

We all (the fans) thought it was on Franklin, but DD openly said it was on him.

I saw that too and it ticked me off.

I've umpired in some games where I knew the "better" team was getting beat. At no time did I feel the need to help them out. In fact, that's when the "better" team usually starts making more mistakes.

Of course, I don't care who yells at me because their team was supposed to win.

We should have had a safety on one of the holds/tackles against Lattimer. The DD/Franklin call was announced as a penalty on Franklin but they may have just stated the wrong number.

well i guess as long as he's not getting flagged for it...

Ever see Mike Stoops??

not sure why everyone is so gitty that paul rhoads is being unsportsmanlike... even if the refs have it coming. Its not like it does much good anyway. If any good.

Strange thing about this game, I didn't fear that we'd lose or blow it because we were such big underdogs (26 pts or some other whacked spread). I was yelling as loud at that TV as I have at the Jack this year though. Couple of plays it was all I could do to not throw the remote at it, like all the dropped interceptions. There was a PI on Franklin which called back a completion as I recall. Wonder if ESPN has it in PBP somewhere.

I agree on the unsportsmanlike comments, but you have to keep on the refs for missing calls or getting it wrong, just to keep them on their toes. I don't think it did much good in this case, as the visiting coach isn't usually going to get the benefit of the doubt on most calls, but I don't blame him for trying.

I'm very happy how the game turned out, but having to listen to that umpire job us with the almost cartoonish texas accent was too much.

This win is not just a nice win for us, but an FU to the puppet master of this league we're in. I hope they can come around and make the big 12 sustainable, especially with the pac 12 announcing equal revenue sharing last week.
