And if I had a dollar for every time ISU fans complained about officials after a loss in football or basketball, I'd probably be able to pay my tuition.

I'm just saying, the complaining is annoying. Iowa fans not giving other teams due is also equally annoying. It would just be nice, if for once, in a post-game thread, we didn't have to read about how the refs were trying to screw over ISU.
It would be nice if you could get over yourself, and stopped leading everything back to Iowa.

well i guess as long as he's not getting flagged for it...

Ever see Mike Stoops??

not sure why everyone is so gitty that paul rhoads is being unsportsmanlike... even if the refs have it coming. Its not like it does much good anyway. If any good.

I don't know how much football you watch, but it is the coach's JOB to be an advocate for the team and coach did just what any good coach should be doing.

I've never seen so much ******** about refs after a win in my life. Refs are not out to get the Clones, get real people.

It was an awesome win, the players and the coaches sure as **** earned it.

Yeah, and Michael Jordan didn't get the benefit of the doubt from the refs either.

I don't think that the refs are "out to get" ISU, but I do believe that they give the power teams/favorites favorable calls. Ever heard of home cookin? It was on display. I'm glad CPR stood up for the team.

I can see that SplitIdentity is newly back from timeout...

Split had a point, and to me that same point is the one coach was trying to get across after tossing the game ball...that was a very important gesture to the players, one that we need to get over those ******* refs or we'll never get to the next level...I'm surprised more people can't see that great gesture for what it is...

That tossing of a game ball was the breaking of the curse. Realize this and we can move to that level as well, the level Dan McCarney wasn't.

And in that same breath we'll get over the Iowa fans challenging us.

Im just saying... say.. If you saw Kirk Ferentz doing that during the iowa/isu game- or pelini or whoever... what would you say about them?

that they are just trying to keep the ref's in line? Everyone thinks their coach's manor isms are great but they see another coach doing the same thing and think he's a ******.

There is no doubt that referees, just like the general public, come into games with a perception of the expected outcome. Try as one might, that perception can and will affect the officials calls.

The long-time perception of ISU football is that we are not expected to win many games. While we are not officially lining up eleven men against twelve; we actually are at times.

The best we can hope for is to change the perception that puts us in this predicament. I think CPR is doing that. I also better understand why KSU's Snyder scheduled/schedules as he does. Perhaps if ISU football earns enough respect and comes to be perceived something like Gonzaga in basketball, our team will eventually come to some benefit. More importantly, we may no longer have to fight through the preconceived "loser" perception.

While this may be the case, I'm getting really tired of the constant ref bashing... all the time, win or lose. OK, so Texas was getting a few calls this time, so be it. But they obviously suck at what they're accused of doing, because if they were as bad as some people in this thread are saying, UT woulda won going away.

Check out any thread after a close loss, FB or BB, and it's always, "The Clones are always jobbed by the officials."

And people ***** about Iowa fans "never losing".

So besides being a Hawkster . . complaining about our win . . you must be a little league official?

but I have never heard a coach yell at the refs like CPR did at Texas without getting flagged. It was unbeleivable. It's almost like the refs knew they were trying to job us.
He was yelling stuff like "Quit ******* being enamored by the Burnt ******* orange and make a call for us".

It was crazy. Never seen a coach yelling stuff like that. I think he actually scared the main ref. The back judge would not even walk by our bench. Especially in the 4th quarter.

Love the intensity and passion, but any chance part of the reason for the biased refs was because of the coach's interactions with them? How would you react if someone was yelling obscenities at your while doing your job? Some might do anything to get him to stop, others might get ****** and make it worse out of spite.

I agree with this - home cooking is very alive and well, but it's around most home teams. Just do a quick search, and see some of the threads that pop up after the KSU game, TTU game, or half the basketball games last year. My point is that the crying about officials is annoying, and I'm not the first person to say something about it.

My point is, and has been, this was a great win for the ISU program, and the team. It just amazes me that there are still people on this site who can still find SOMETHING to ***** about, after beating a ranked team for the first time in 20 years on the road, and beating Texas for the first time ever.

You don't see anything a little sad about that?

I can see that SplitIdentity is newly back from timeout...
Nope, I've been here the entire time.

For the record, you're officially complaining about complaining.
Yes, I guess I am lol

I think he's trying to be balanced there, not trying to lead into a discussion of the state's "other" team.
Thank you, that's correct.

So besides being a Hawkster . . complaining about our win . . you must be a little league official?

How am I complaining about the win?? I'd really like you to quote any post where I complained about this, or any other win in ISU history?

If that coach's team was getting jobbed I'd be all for it. When coach's complain just for the sake of complaining it does bother me.

Then how bout you leave then? If I am sick of something, generally I try to stay away from it. That just makes sense to me.

Go watch that game. Watch our Dline. Texas was holding like a mother****er all game. It never got called. The PI was a junk call.

Also, the argument is you never get beat. You give the games away. Get it straight.

To a "t" every Iowa fan I know has said "we were clearly the better team" regarding the Wisconsin loss. If I had a dollar for every loss in the Ferentz era I've heard at least one Iowa fan make that claim, I'd have $56.
Clayborn is the King of this. He has never lost a game it has always been lack of effort or something else. He never credits his opponent. NEVER. Guess what Adrian, if you get beat because of lack of effort ot "not playing hard" then you suck and you got beat.

Does somebody have a gun to your head? Newsflash....YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS DISCUSSION. The first few posts in this thread made it fairly obvious what direction it was going to take and yet, here you are, 5 pages later. You act as if this is the only thing that has been discussed on CF since Saturday. There must be 50 threads that have very positive things to say about the game. The refs were terrible in the Texas game, mostly in Texas' favor. Whether it was a conspiracy or just them sucking, the fact remains they were bad and that, along with PR's reaction, is what is being discussed here. To quote your boy Stanzi, if you don't love it, leave it.

So, you really want to whine and cry after a monumental win like this? That's what makes you happy? OK, so what if the refs were giving Texas a little love. Did UT win? I thought ISU did? People have no complaining about the team this time around, so now everybody has to complain about the officials?

When is there a time that ISU plays that people DON'T have something to complain about? I have a feeling that even if Hoiberg goes undefeated in his first year, people will find a reason to complain about the parking at Hilton, the refs were calling too many charges, something blah blah blah.

Give it a rest folks. ISU beat up on one of the best programs in the history of the sport, in a place that nobody wins, and people are still complaining about something. Unreal.

I thought everybody wanted to keep Iowa out of this discussion? So how about we go ahead and do that, no? This is about ISU vs. Texas, and the officials, I see no reason to keep talking about the Hawks.
