One place to go downtown in Des Moines would be the High Life. They were on Man vs Food and serve bacon wrapped tater tots. I've never had them, but they looked great on TV. Shag carpet on the floors, a sit down table top pac man game, its straight out of the 70s

Last time I was there they actually put booths in the back of High Life; Pac-Man was moved to El Bait Shop (next door), which is a GREAT placed (huge selection of beer on tap). Highly recommend both.

I honestly don't think their fans had anything to do with the decision.

But hey, stay angry. Soon you will die of heart failure, and I can eat your supper.

You know . . not all of us are "angry" . . we just have a sense of fairness and have "contempt" for Nebraska. They have big egos, big mouths, and a big sense of entitlement. Their fans could care less about ISU and the Big XII. Just swing over to their board and check out their comments about YOU/ISU/Big XII.

So while some ISU fans feel a need to give them a warm fuzzy visit . . the rest of us really can't wait for these people to disappear into the Big 10 . . where they belong . .cash and all. Let em go . . and let's ALWAYS remind them they ran from Texas because they couldn't beat em. Good bye and good riddence . . and thanks to Tom Osborne for running up the score AGAIN . . and displaying a lack of loyalty to the old Big 8 . . way to go Tom . . just like the old days. Screw your sister Big 8 schools as you take your ball and flee to the Big "easy" 10/11/12.

I really don't think Nebraska fans will get a warm welcome this year. I think ISU as well as the rest of the north fans are just sick and tired of the Nebraska fans "Were better then you and we know it" additude. Since NU is running away to a weaker conference like a little girl and ISU fans don't have to deal with NU fans anymore they will really be letting NU fans know their displeasure with them.

I have yet to meet a civil Nebraska fan in my life who is not dating, related or associated with an ISU fan some how.

Hickory Park is way over rated, not bad food but not great, and not to mention its too damn loud in there to carry on a conversation.

It was good a one time . . now they are putting out very AVERAGE food. Unfortunately, HP is way over rated now.

Hey guys, I'm making my first (and my last, at least for football) trip to Ames this weekend and I was looking for advice on things to see and do in Ames and Des Moines which is where I'll be staying Friday night. I don't know any ISU fans in person, but I had a few sit next to me at our game in Lincoln in 2005 and they were great to be around, I'm hoping for a similar experience this weekend. Good luck to you guys on Saturday, here's hoping for a good game. GBR

From a fellow Husker fan, welcome to Central Iowa. Not sure were you are coming in from, i'm guessing Lincoln or Omaha, but there is a Valentino's in Ames. The Chicken Coop Sports Bar at the intersection of EP True Pkwy & Grand Ave in West Des Moines is the Iowans 4 Nebraska HQ's.

Stay at the Lincoln Lodge in Ames. Eat at Mangostino's. Both are on East Lincoln Way in Ames, within walking distance of each other. Also w/in walking distance of the stadium, although quite a hike.

Noooo! Don't go to Valention's here. It's okay food. and great service, but it doesn't compare to the Valentino's in Beatrice, or some of the other locations in NE. (I think that's because that is where the chain comes from)

If you want Ruby Tuesday's though, it is inbetween Des Moines and Ankeny. They have a great salmon dish too.

I hope that these guys DON'T have a good time in Ames. They're just making one last tour of the conference to **** on every spot before leaving. I say good riddance. The Husker fans and the hok fans deserve each other. In fact, I think that I'll help prepare those fans for IC in a few years by bouncing a couple of beer cans off the heads of husker fans who walk by our tailgate. Unlike IC, I'll at least make sure the cans are empty.

Win or lose, husker fans, don't expect to go through this weekend unscathed. You're going to get some verbal (and maybe even physical) abuse.

They are used to it, except NU fans are such ******** they take their losing out on their players such as the verbal abuse to Niles Paul.
