And ISU would of taken the offer as well. You would of said **** on your big 8 buddies of old and went with the xtra money and exposure the big 10 network would of given you.

I hate to agree with this, but its true. We would have had to swallow our pride a bit, but I would take extra cash and a network to watch games on.

Hey GBR1, I went to Ames two years ago and the fanbase was very nice to us, though if this messages on this board are any indication I think I'll wear a helmet this year. I'm going to the game as well, I think we're just gonna find a bar early and hang out for a bit and maybe tail gate before the game, there's a big group of us, around 30 or so..if you want to come with I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

I'd say that's a good idea. I plan on bringing along some pumpkins I'm going to throw out anyway and aim for a few Cornholers wearing their Tommie Frazier jerseys. Pow, right in the kisser!!!!

I don't blame Nebraska for leaving. I blame Texas. Everyone thought the Big 12 was gone, rumors of Texas bolting, Colorado bailing, NU was taking care of themselves so they wouldn't get left out.

And that is why they call you "moderator" :v_SPIN: . . .

BTW, I don't buy your bold logic on the latter. And frankly, I have been to a LOT of ISU games . . and to lable our fans as similarly "stupid" is surprising.

speak for yourself herr moderator! :v_SPIN:

You got something you want to say today Mady?

Well "traditionally" . . when a visiting team is getting thumped by 50 plus points (to wit: Walden-Criner debacles) it is very EASY to be nice to visiting fans. Nothing like getting patted on the back when your team just got blasted!

The two games that I went to were Neb vs. Notre Dame and Neb vs Mizzou.

Neb beat Notre Dame and lost to Mizzou. The fans seated in the corner (Northeast?) above the visitors entrance did stay and applaud Mizzou as they left the field.

better than mizzou, I have to put a tiger tail in my trunk there, since 97 anyways, when I got my tires slashed for having nebraska plates.

Blame Texas? LOL. Oh wait . . you are privy to all the intra league intrigues?? Did you hear how TO was fishing MONTHS before bailing out on the Big XII. Ole TO couldn't get out of the 12 fast enough. The Texas win at Lincoln is something NU will never live down . . "they couldn't beat Texas!" :spinny:

Making threat like that make you look like a real ***** and give ISU a bad name. Let's all just enjoy the game, and that is exactly what it is... a game...

Actually, it's NOT just a game. The greedy move by their "walking god" almost cost ISU it's conference affiliation. And that has to do with more than just football. It has to do with relegating ISU to second tier status not only athletically and media-wise, but academically. It has to do with grants, jobs, and the city of Ames. Sorry, but I don't feel the need to turn the other cheek when that school does something like that to the conference mates that they built their tradition on. I don't feel any need to act nice to a cultist fanbase who will never step foot in Ames again. They're the hawkeye's problem after this year...actually they're each others' problem.

My motto for this week: Go Big Red = Can Bounced Off Head.

You will be treated graciously. Besides what is being stated here, most of it is just typical message board chest thumping. I've always been treated good in Lincoln and so have all/most others.

Good post and alot of truth in what you say, I agree. Time to move on though. I look at it as Nebraska's loss. The grass is not always greener on the otherside and they will face an uphill battle as a whole. Deep down they will someday regret this move, although they will never admit it. Until then it's the same old same old, FU Cornhuskers. And remember, any beer spilled on you was purley accidental. LOL

Outstanding post! . . you have captured the nuance of why this particular trip by NU is so different.

Frak, you are a moron if you think that 1 school leaving a conference will break it up.

I don't think he's suggesting that it would, but ISU was in some hot water there after we had left, because Texas was considering taking the south teams (minus A&M who I believe had SEC aspirations) with them to the pac-10, which would have dissolved the conference and more than likely left ISU, KU, and KSU outside of a BCS conference. I do understand the venom towards osborne, what I don't understand is acting like the fans had anything whatsoever to do with the decision.

Well stated Ceek. I hate what NU stands for, but I have no personal vengeance toward you fans coming to Ames. Most idiots on here were praying that we got the Big 10 invite, so I wouldn't worry about them. I have to say that the venom they spew toward you guys for "worshiping" a team, seems to be a bit hypocritical. They obviously have an unhealthy obsession with ISU.

All said, NU and Texas almost crumbled our fine university for what? More money. Aren't these teams already the leading money-makers? What good is money then? It's just a shame what the greedy have done to a great institution of college athletics.

Enjoy getting richer, it won't change anything. You'll still be just another team in another conference and you will be on TV every week. I see no improvement in this divorce from tradition.

It doesnt matter ceek. Its a dirty shot to put the blame on nebraska and nebraska alone. Nebraska wasnt even the 1st team to leave the conference but yet we get the blame. Why, because were the big 12 norths big brother, is that what people think. We are suspost to think for the benefit of the north of the conference. Texas has showed its all for one and thats pretty much it. Last time i checked 10 teams in a conference can still be considered a conference. I think the boys in ames need to look south as to who held there conference in the palm of there hands. But again, if given the chance there would be flame marks from ames with how fast they burned to the big 10. You are no different then we are.
