ok let me break it down for you-and i'll use small words to make sure you understand.

the play call worked. the players didn't execute.
/QUOTE]

if it was such a good call, why didn't work?

Did you see how open Franklin was in the endzone? Or did you just follow the gamecast and see that we didnt get the 2 pt conversion?

I like to see a coach that goes for a win like CPR does. The play was there, the pass was just rushed. It was a good call, the right call.

It wasn't like they hadn't practiced the play. Every play has a chance to fail. The play was called correctly, I don't blame the holder either,it was just one of many plays in the game. If coach thought it would work, that is good enough for me. We at least have some excitement around the program, and I like that. Am I bummed we lost? Sure I am, but I am not so consumed that I think I feel worse than the staff or players. Some on here are coaching legends.......in their own minds. Show some support and faith!

you guys are chasing fools gold defending the call. this was a gimmick call by a coaching staff that didn't have faith it its teams' ability to win...kick the extra point and play for another OT.

They practiced the play during the week because they saw a weakness. It wasnt just drawn up on the sidelines during the game.

so what, the play call was for a pass to the end zone by the holder. wouldn't that have had a better chance of being successful if is was tossed by the qb?

You never know. Nebraska could have seen that there was a different holder than earlier and they might have been ready for it

Having the QB throw it from an offensive formation eliminates the element of surprise. If you bring on the offense, there is absolutely no doubt you are going for 2 and there is a very good chance Nebraska burns a timeout before the play. Also, the fact that Franklin had a small acreage of open space initially in the route says that a fake was one of the last things on Nebraska's mind. It just wasn't executed well enough.

A QB throwing it would have taken out the suprise part of it. It is not like the holder was someone sitting in the stands at half he had practied the play and I bet had shown he could throw the ball, it just happened that this time everything didnt go perfect for him.

you missed the point, no kicker, just offfense if you are going to go for it.

Yup, because the entire defense was surrounding Franklin and just waiting for the pass. They totally knew it was coming. My god, can someone really act this dumb?
