Terrible Call

1. We have a coach that calls risky plays. I don't remember anyone complaining about his successful onside kick earlier in the year or his successful fake punt call. Some are going to work and some aren't. I would rather have a coach that is gutsy enough to go for them than one that sits back and is scared to lose. Hurts not to win this one, but I like our coaches play calling.

2. Did anyone else read the ESPN article where the Nebraska player said half the team was ready for the call?That was why someone was scrambling to catch up to Franklin. Wow, Boo must have planted some words in his players mouths.

I didn't see any posts from you when our fake punt against Nebby last year worked, or the onside kick against Texas. I might be wrong but this is the first "gimmick" play that hasn't worked for CPR, and if you look at the play it was designed wonderfully, the element of surprise was there, and the execution wasn't......but you could say that of any play that happens on a football field, when AA throws a pick do you blame the coaches???? Nope.....i tossed and turned with how I felt about the call, at first i was like "Why would you call that play?", but then I settled down and realized that it WAS there for the taking, it WAS a good call, and I am proud that we lose a game being aggressive rather than playing Coach Mac prevent and lose because we got timid and tense

You go for the win right there because Nebraska is better than us...you're only kidding yourself if you think otherwise. We definitely played with them (and better than them) all day to that point, but you know and CPR knows they are deeper than us and had this gone on any longer (another OT or 2), their depth would have been something we couldn't match at some point.

The momentum was high and the opportunity was there to end it right then...and the play called worked, no question about it, 100% wide open, make even a decent throw and it is an ISU victory.

This can't be hung on CPR. Keuhl has run that play a thousand times in practice, no reason to think he couldnt do it in the game, he showed confidence in the kid and he just didn't execute. Some of you act like CPR just dreamed the play up on the sideline that day and ran it, he's not stupid folks, if he had any reason to think it wouldn't work, he wouldn't have run it. Keuhl has probably proven a thousand times he could do it, so CPR ran him out there to do it.

Give CPR some credit, he's way smarter than all of us and knows the capabilities of his team way more than we do. The play was there, no denying that, and I for one, trust that man's judgement.

The fact we were even in that game is a testament to CPR and staff and what he is doing. I hate the loss, but CPR is the man for the job.

Just thought that I would point out, that Lamaak was injured on the play prior to the Williams TD pass. I don't think it factored into the decision to go for 2 at the end at all. Alvarez has shown the ability to slide over. But for those who think it was an automatic thing to just continue playing in OT, and that we would have prevailed. IDK. Also Arnaud got dinged a bit on his run that put us in the 1st and Goal situation for the Williams TD.

Wake up and get a life, This team is on the way up and not looking back. If you are that sick dig up your Hawkeye gear and go watch them get beat by northwestern and minnesota!:yes:

Really? The stats from the game do not bear that out at all. Actually, we were dominating them. Yards, first downs, time of possession. We were the better team yesterday.

Yes really...Nebraska is a better team than us. Notice I say a line or two down that we were with them all day and even outplaying them, and yet it is a 31-30 Nebraska lead when the fake is called, we weren't putting them away. We were tiring, but our chance to end it with a win was right there at that point. It was the time to do it and it was exactly the right call. It just didn't get the finish we deserved.
