Looks like they really wanted him out of there. That's not good for us, because it'll motivate them to play well for whoever comes in as interim coach.

This also begs the question: Why did these guys keep committing to CU to play football for Hawkins if he was universally hated so badly? Go play for a coach you like. I don't get it.

Why did guys commit to ISU Basketball while our coach seemed to be universally hated by the players?

Something in athletes' decision-making in this process never made sense to me. Kind of like the guys who would rather sit on the bench at a big-name program instead of making a name for themselves somewhere else.

I hope we light them up for 50 pts + like KU did, regardless of who's coaching them. Hawkins' karma is paying him back for that blue field bowl against ISU where he tried to run up the score.

Yeah, **** that "Honor before Victory" crap. :jimlad:

Let's beat them till they get ****** and cheap shot one of
our players into a season ending injury.

I get a bad feeling about it for us. Im torn though. On the one hand I think we have a good shot to get the W amidst the confusion of the change, but on the other hand I get the feeling jr. hawkins might just put up the game of his life as a result possibly. I just hope CPR can light a fire under the team for this one coming off the heartbreaker on saturday.

Why on earth would Cody want to put up the game of his life now? He's got no pro ball aspirations, and now his dad is fired. He suddenly puts up an amazing game, the credit goes to the new coach for "Finally finding a way to put a fire in this Colorado team" and it makes his dad look even worse.

I just can't fathom any motivation for Cody to play anything but a lame duck game.

Yup. It will also motivate them to show that the problem was with Hawkins, and not with the players on the team. I would much rather have had them floundering around under Hawkins. But that's the hand ISU was dealt, and they will have to pull out an NU-like effort to win. They can do it...

Probably because they weren't recruited by the head coach and they liked the assistant who recruited them. This happens even more in football since you spend so much more time with your position coach than you do with the head coach.

Also, guys don't go to big time programs to sit on the bench. They go in with the attitude that they are going to be a star at whatever big time school they go to. They go in thinking they can prove that they are the best of the best, just doesn't always work out for them.

Key to this game is coming out and scoring points immediately. If we have a hangover, we are in serious trouble.

Totally agree with this. It is now especially important not to come out with a hangover in the first half. We have to score early and build a lead to kill any confidence they might have.

We have to remember that athletically we are about the same as Colorado, our edge was coaching (and team's commitment to the coach). We can't assume that they will roll over for us this week. This interim guy has been at Colorado for a long time, including when they were winning a lot of games.

If CU beats us after firing their head coach and no bowl aspirations then they deserve to win. It's up to ISU...no excuses if we lose.

Sounds like they loved their coach :jimlad:

I don't know how Cody could stay if the players are saying they are going to laugh on his facebook wall. If the players hate him as much as they hate his dad that could leave them with no qb.

I was listening to the leadin to the Jayhawk interview for McD last night, and the announcers said McD was a "victim" from all the transfers. They talked about his UNI days and very little about ISU. They said he needed to coach hard worker players and diod not do as well with the more talented players. Doug McD was leading scorer in their first game. Their centers were ineffectual under his system of get the ball inside and make a bucket. Sound familiar?

I repeat this serval times. We must show up without rust in our legs. It will make a better game for us in the end. if we get in a two touchdown hole, shame on us.
