Some MORE news in the Cam Newton saga... this article was posted about an hour ago.

NCAA could ask Newton to sit - College Football - Rivals.com

"With investigators gathering new information into pay-to-play allegations surrounding Auburn star quarterback Cam Newton, the NCAA could recommend Friday that the star quarterback be held out of competition pending a ruling on his eligibility."

Sorry Chiz... your dream season could be "buh bye"... although, can't help but feel for the rest of the players on the team if this does happen; they were kind of innocent bystanders.

I'm not holding my breath but if he got paid, I hope he's done, along with Jean.

It says the NCAA might ask. I'd just say no i'm not going to sit.

Agreed... I realize there's a big MIGHT in there. Also agree that I'd say no... I think they're too far in at this point anyway. If he's ruled ineligible now wouldn't they basically end up having to forfeit all of the games he's played in this season anyway?

IMO....

It will never happen (he sits). He will play out the season, after appeal, after appeal, after injunction, and injunction....

Then when the evidence comes to light after he leaves for the NFL, they will do what they did at USC (example) and penalize the School and poor students athletes that had absolutely nothing to do with this...

That is the NCAA way.....

They need to ban for life the people that let this happen, but that never seems to happen....Sad

I wish you were wrong, but that sounds just about right.

Does the chiz drip stay if they get the NCAA death penalty? (as they should)

That's a good question. It's not real clear to me at this point what Auburn's role was in all of this. Until that comes out, I'm not sure myself. If Auburn didn't do anything illegal and it was just Cam that was involved, then of course this season would be a wash because of the games he played in, but not sure if the NCAA would place additional sanctions on Auburn or not. I think that would really dictate what Chiz does.

I wouldn't sit. If the NCAA finds anything they are going to force him to sit anyway. I'd get in as much time on the field as possible.

I was listending to Dan Patrick this morning and he was saying how the media storm will force the NCAA to move faster. What they don't want is for this guy to play and/or win the National Championship and/or Heisman after what happened with Reggie Bush.

Au will not get the death penalty for this. Chizzy will probably come out aight, he might have to vacat alot of wins though. Heisman and NT are over with if it becomes true.

Auburn probably did not do anything wrong....

But like in the Movie "Blue Chips", if true.....? do not kid yourself somebody knew something...? If the kid or his Dad got paid, somebody in the Football program knows. Now try and prove it, that is a whole other story....

Who needs to do some banning is the NFL. Give Reggie Bush a lifetime ban from the NFL and do the same for anyone else caught with recruiting violations and I guarantee that people will give it a second thought before getting involved in things like this. Sure the NFL loses a couple star players, but there will always be more people waiting in line to fill those spots.

I could get on board with this, but unfortunately never happen....:skeptical:

I still hate that the NCAA penalizes the school usually after the fact when all the wrong doers are gone and got what they wanted....

What possible reason would the NFL want to do that?

The NFL doesn't care and it shouldn't. What happens in the NCAA has no bearing for them. They are a bottomline business.
