Officiating isn't even their job, so they can't lose it. Paul Jansen sells insurance or real estate or funeral plans or something in Orange City. He officiates in his spare time. And that's what you get from spare time officials: spare time effort and performance.

Paul Jansen has some vendetta against ISU...he called some crappy games last year...like the uni game....coincidental...

I am thankful there are some fans on this board who have a brain. There were bad calls made both ways. Was it a travel? Was it not?? Who knows....none of us had even a DECENT feed so don't tell me that you saw it either way.

As for ISU being the better team...again, you have no idea. We are 5 and 7 games into the season. We haven't beat anyone, and neither have you.

I typically root for ISU, but after reading some of these comments it is going to make it tough. I thought Iowa fans were the only ones who complained this much about officiating. I guess I was wrong.

And had UNI lost would you be singing the same song????? Be honest......it's easy to "take the high road" after a win. I felt that ISu was the reciepient of more than one bad travel call while UNI was not. That being said...we did not shoot well and the rebounding also left something to be desired. But please do not be ignorant. If the tables were turned on those close calls you would be posting on Panther Nation about your unhappiness.

I did not want to read all the thread so sorry if someone mentioned this.

How is O Rear able to back under players as they come down with a rebound. This is cheap basketball and it could cause injury. Christopherson almost twisted an ankle and lost the ball out of bounds because of this. I saw him do it several times after that. Did anyone else see this?

Yep. He clearly does it on purpose. I commented on it in the game thread on one occassion where he saw the guy jump and hurried under him to box him out while he was in the air. Dirty, dirty basketball.

most officials have other gigs - even NBA guys.

Paul is not unique.

They blew the whistle on the crossover. If that was a carry than Diante and Kwazdo were "carrying" the ball all night. Again that was a bad call, and the video proves it.

The video proves he took four steps and they blew the whistle after the third. That call was really a shame because there was plenty to complain about from the refs, but many Clone fans are left complaining about an obvious travel.

With all the crying going on here about the refs, we are starting to sound like Fusker fans. Time to move on people!

@UNI has been our worst officiating other than KU for over a decade now. By far my least favorite game on the schedule, although I could see why a UNI fan loves it.

Hope we beat them by 50 next year when we'll have real inside presence.

Re: Officiating

I'm REALLY not the type of guy who gets sucked into the "refs cost us the game" notion, but tonight, I'm honestly at that point. That was complete and utter ******** and it should NEVER be tolerated. Personally, I refuse to play UNI or Drake anymore if the officials are going to be resembling this crew in any way. That was absolutely unbelievable.

Why is anyone surprised by this?

This has been the last 6-7 games at UNI. The officials are really bad in UNI's favor EVERY TIME there. I think it was 99 or 98 the fouls were 13 to 0 at half.

Being a high school official In Iowa I back officials 9 out of 10 times. this case is no different calls even out and the officiating did not determine the game. maybe Iowa state should have cleaned the boards better and the refs did not determine the shooting or post play. sorry guys. Go state onto the next. BEAT CAL!

It wasn't the refs.

Obviously you did not watch the game...I don't like to blame losses on officiating, but this one was complete garbage, the no travel call on Kwadzo Ahelegba when they got 2 points and then the phantom travel call on DG the took a layup away from us is the difference in that game. We didn't play well, but we played well enough to win and we should have won. I take nothing from that loss, I think we were very resilient to the refs all game in a hostile environment. Unfortunately 8 on 5 just does not work out.

I'm an ISU fan first, but as an official myself I try to watch the game and evaluate the officials objectively. The one call I disagreed with when I saw it live was Diante's travel call, but other than that I didn't see much at all to complain about. We got beat....deal with it.

Fans have to realize they are biased. And you think you know the rules, but you don't.

I disagree that it has risen to that level...yet. No one up to your post has threatened the officials or the MVC office with physical violence or murder.

I was thinking the same that our fans like to call out the Hawks and Fuskers, "They never lose a game, the refs cost them every loss". What a bunch of crap that we have to hear it on here after losing to a MVC school. What's worse is that they have proved in the recent series to be the dominant team. Give Fred and the guys some time and we won't worry about officiating.

Just be good sports, because after all it is just a sport.
