Hawaii joins Mountain West in football, Big West in other sports - ESPN

Looks like Hawaii is following Boise State, Nevada and Fresno State to the Mountain West. It's a shame Utah, TCU and BYU are leaving...that would have been a stacked conference, better than Big East and ACC for sure

The Mountain West will still be ok with Boise, Nevada, Air Force, San Diego State, Hawaii, Fresno St. and Wyoming. Maybe Colorado State will return to being competitive

This is hilarious. The 3 best teams in the MWC join BCS leagues/go Independent, so they raid the WAC. The MWC is basically just the WAC.

The Big East has to be sighing in relief. There's no way the MWC takes their auto bid now.

I don't get it, why not stay in one conference for all sports? Just seems like a pain in the ***.

The WAC is damn near worthless now. The MWC is fine with doing the travel to hawaii for football, but doesnt want to have to do it for all their sports (the travel to hawaii was actually cited by some of the schools that left the WAC before). Big west makes sense geographically for hawaii, but its non-football. So, football goes MWC, everything else big west.
