I'm probably in the minority, but I'd rather have some snow than extreme cold. I can't stand the cold!

Agreed, but I'm okay with cold as long as it's not windy. I'd much rather it be -10 degrees with no wind than 25 degrees with 20 mph winds. Then again, in Iowa, it's not often cold and not windy at the same time...

Yeah, I'd have to agree. The wind is the real killer. I guess I was kind of tying the two together, but yeah when it is 10 below, it usually isn't windy.

All I know is, I lack one thing to be a snow bird...$$$$$$$

Depends where you move to... Texas is cheaper to live than here. More bang for your buck on housing and no state income tax... as we neared the 70" mark last winter, the idea of moving there became very attractive...

Personally I love snow. I love the challenge of driving in it, I love playing with friends and pets in it, I love how it looks. So I'm all for more snow.

However I just got back from doing some networking in Wichita and well...it was 55 there yesterday...it was kind of nice.

If it is going to be cold, may as well have some snow. It's a lot better to be cold with snow on the ground then it is to be cold with poop brown grass on the ground.

I'm flying from Des Moines to Phoenix on the 10th and hope like hell that it doesn't snow much. I'm meeting my wife there for a mini vacation and it'd really blow if I couldn't make it.

Over the past day the models have trended a bit moister and more north with the system. Looks like it could be a fairly significant event in SW Iowa with amounts tapering off as you head towards the northeast part of the state.

Models coming into better agreement, looks like a advisory level snowfall for most of the state. My guess is that a portion of SW Iowa will be put under a Winter Storm Watch later this afternoon. Here's my early predicted snowfall map(note: might be underestimating totals but I place a greater weight with Euro and Operational GFS which happen to be the driest with this storm).
