I'm not. Hell, our starters are playing nearly the entire game of every game through injury and illness. Even pros aren't expected to do that on a regular basis.

Yeah, I think we just wear down at the end of games. Our defense really was pretty good all night and then literally porous the last 5 minutes. Just have to be tired.

Not sure what the answer is. Maybe get Railey in there for a couple minutes, get DG a rest before a TV timeout for a bit if possible. Hard to manage that.

I hear ya, its gut wrenching for sure. And they say its supposed to be fun to watch the games...

Anyone gonna blame this one on lack of coaching experience?? Certainly after two games where you give away the game in the last minute you can't say that it's not a factor. Don't get me wrong I'm behind Fred 100% it's just that when that kind of thing happens twice within 11 days it makes me scratch my head. I know what some people are gonna say "Fred didn't throw that bad pass" or "Fred didn't make that b.s. charging call" but the facts remain, Fred is the coach and makes the decisions so he's gotta learn from this and manage the game better late. You got one timeout left might as well use it to strategize for the last minute of play. All I'm saying is Fred can do better and I know he will.

JVB turned down at least two open looks in the last 10 minutes. Of course, we turned the ball over on both those possesions. If he's open, he's got to shoot it. He's our #1 option right now. We had a few chances to take the lead from 10 to 15, but weren't aggressive enough. Ejim wasn't giving us much on either end. He needs to be 2X more physical (without the elbows) or Godfrey is going to earn the start.

OSU is a pretty average team that was beatable tonight, but ISU is overachieving to even play at this level. We have one player who can create his own shot. The rest are role players or are still developing.

I was hoping for a win, but not surprised we ran out of gas, failing to score or rebound. You just can't expect to win when you can't get rebounds off missed free throws.

Hello OSU fans, hope you're enjoying our meltdown. Congrats on beating a team that plays 6 scholarship players and doesn't have a big man. You guys should feel great tonight!!!

Other thing that bothers me, in the 3 conference losses, we had the best player on the floor each night, DG, and we still can't bring it home.

Hate to waste this, won't have him next year.

Do not question the Fred:wink:

Seriously though, I think it goes down to philosophy- if you like the way things are set up, you let them play. I also think that not calling the timeout plays into the "having confidence in the players" philosophy. He trusts the kids to make the right decisions.

I'm still convinced that DG made a good move, and good pass, and the OSU player flopped. Wish he would have stepped left instead of right though, because that left it up to the ref, and we all know how that usually goes.

Err, as much as I love DG, I would have to say Marcus Morris was the best player in the KU game.

Maybe. Maybe not. DG put up 27, and we had no one to guard Morris. People are underating him because he is DG and people want to pick at his mistakes. And they just can't accept how good he is for some reason. Not saying you, just our fanbase in general. He is the best guard in the conference and it isn't even close right now.

lol. During the latter stages of our 1999-2000 team, my heart was going 150 beats/minute too. But my expectations were 10X higher then. This year I'm just proud of how competitive these guys are and I still don't expect them to finish much different than 4-12 in Big 12 and .500 overall. We're usually outmanned at 3 or 4 of the 5 positions in every conference game. This is catching up with us at the end of the game when the other team is desperate.

let's be honest here: that's more work than you've done in years.

I can understand your elevated heart rate.

We need the TT and OU games. And now we MUST beat NU and split with CU. That puts us at 5-11. 18 wins.

I am usually the last one to say this and I said after the Nebraska game maybe 3 or 4 wins. But I am changing my mind. I just think IF Diante can keep playing like this, we should win more games than 5. Literally most nights he is going to be the best player on the floor if he keeps this up. I hope that is worth more than 5 wins. Maybe not though. We will see.

I haven't physically hurt this much after a basketball game since we lost to Hampton. This game could have been a huge turning point for our program...break the losing streak @ OSU, win a road game with a depleted roster that has no right to even compete with the talent OSU has, and maybe, just maybe, end up on the bubble for the tournament. With a minute to go, I told myself, "we're actually going to do this. We're gonna win." I am just sick at how Ejim's lackadaisical play tonight lost the game for our team. DG played his heart out, and JVB shot the ball like a superstar. These guys are like the team from "The Replacements." They shouldn't be starters in BCS D-1 basketball, but they are playing incredibly. Someone just forgot to tell Oklahoma State + the officials about the Hollywood ******.

I am just sick. We gave this one away, and after that happened, everything went the other way. Calls from the officials, baskets made...and the ******* ridiculous call on Ejim. I will put that up there with "The Blarge" and "The Make a 3-Pointer Between Two Dead-Ball Free Throws" as one of the legendary screw-jobs in Iowa State's recent history. Tonight's wouldn't have won the game for us had it gone the other way, but it made me feel as though all of Cyclone Nation was the little kid with glasses who was getting beat up by the class bully, and then was framed for stealing someone's lunch money while that bully laughed and had no shame.

If we were 3-1 instead of 1-3, I'd agree with you. Instead I've got to give that honor to both the Colorado guards (Burks and Higgins) as they are 3-1.

Thats what i kept telling my gf, she has no clue what its like to be a clone fan. She's like "your up by 6 with with 2 minutes left, why are you so upset and screaming at the tv"

I'm like just you wait...........

I figured she understood after the NU Football game being in the stands but I guess not.
